Welcome Hugh :D

Newcastle is the stomping ground of long term owner and member peter freeman - I’m sure a trip along to the local meeting (Noggin) will be advantageous to meet local members and see some local cars - a lot of cars change hands without being advertised so might be useful to have inside knowledge

NECPWA + North of England Classics and Pre War Automobiles. Quite a lot of MG's in the club and the MG club organise the drive it day for us George Dalgarno runs it. Roger Napper stores his Aston Martin Vanquish somewhere near Morpeth - he should be at the show in his Scimitar and maybe his wife in their Lotus as well.

Sorry everybody I missed the monthly noggin meet!!
Such a shame!! I'll be back next month!!
Btw I went out yesterday to have my MG Mary photographed(I have put her up for sale u c) when a great big truck(full size juggernaut) came up to us and we assured him we'd only be a few minutes!! But no he had to be on his way!!(whatever he was delivering or had delivered!!) So he hurried my dad into the car park near the farm shop & cafe and also with more aggression he hooted at a corsa to get out of his way!!(He blatantly had enough room!!) So my dad reversed out of the car park and scratched lovely Mary against a gate post!! AARGHHH!! Poor Mary!! Bloody truck!!

On the face of it it looks to be ok but I am not fond of the 3 speed auto - sun roof could be a problem in the future as finding spares ( even the seals ) is now difficult - nobody does the after market spares or supplies now. I had to get my 6A bits from the USA when it leaked and that was in 2005.

Hmm.... Yes I see what you mean you warned me to steer clear of auto boxes!!(unless its 4 speed) Are scimmy parts really that scarce?!!
Why were more available in America??
Couldn't I just stick a manual box instead??
And how easy are these available to get hold of??

The four speed box Peter refers to is the A4LD. Used in various forms in the Ford Explorer among others.
Stuff easy to find. Lots of kits on American Ebay. Oregon Transmissions supplied all my stuff including new torque converter. Albeit sent to the hotel I was staying in.
