Hi, new member here. Just a warning that there will be quite a few questions coming soon as I have a SS1 1600 on the way. I had a Se6a a few years back and loved it. Now have a bit of spare cash and decided on a SS1. It should be with me on the 25th of March and I will be going through it as it’s stood for the past 5 years. It’s the galvanised chassis model (1987), single wiper. I hope to build a fast road engine for it and give it a different(!) colour scheme. Any helpful suggestions will be appreciated!

Oh yes, I live in South Somerset so if there’s anyone out there who lives nearby you’re very welcome to call in for a cuppa, or homebrew, and give me a hand with the SS!
Cheers.

Hello and welcome! Do not believe I have seen any such car available for sale recently, so would be intrigued to know more details / see some pictures!

All questions much enjoyed by us, the CVH finds mixed favour among many, but development of another SS1 1600 is always of interest.

Hi, and welcome to the forum, from another SS1 1600 owner! :D (and Se6as as well, as Manny said, they are a bit addictive)

Hi, I am having the SS1 delivered on the 25th of March. It hasn’t been advertised as I asked about a ti and the owner of the 1600 messaged me offering it to me free of charge as long as I restored it and not break it for spares! Hence the spare cash. It needs quite a bit doing but it’s a runner with ti wheels, hardtop and manuals. I was thinking of replacing the wheels with revolutions and a fancy paint job, because I’m like that!! It has 101k miles on the clock, is silver, has a leak somewhere that collects in the drivers footwell, the soft top is missing but the frame is there, it’s a 1998 model, single wiper and number 1117 of the 1503 produced. I’ll let you all know more when it arrives!

Thanks scimitar, there’ll be a lot of shouting! Trying to sort out my garage so that I can fit it in at the moment. Not the ideal time to do it here in snowy Somerset, at minus 3 feeling like minus 30 in the garage! The fan heater isn’t making much difference.
I’ve always restored my vehicles to as near as possible to original spec but I fancy a change with this one. Will I be blacklisted if I go down that route? 😁
