Hello Folks,
i m Alexander from Germany near Frankfurt, and i m restoring a beauty, that stands for over 25 years in fathers garage, SABRA GT 4 No.4868.
Ford Consul Motor.
The transmisson is missing, ZF was going for an Elite many years ago, so i need a replacement.

Willkommen!

The Sabre/Sabra gurus will be away this weekend for the Sabre Meeting. No doubt they will answer your questions soon.
Is your car known to the club registrar?

Welcome to the Club.
Here's a picture from the meeting this week-end, 9 cars in all. I think some have the original Ford (Type E?) 4-speed box fitted, but I'll bow to superior knowledge when the Sabre/Sabra Registrar gets back on the forum.

Hi Alexander

Several people with Sabras or Sabres have fitted the Ford Type 9 gearbox from the Sierra. It is a relatively easy job to do but does involve a machined adaptor plate or ring to go between the 'box and the original bellhousing, a hole to be cut at the top of the bellhousing to take the selector rod from the 'box and one or two other mods that I have forgotten about. Jacques Vandevelde in Belgium fitted a Type 9 to he Sabra a few years ago and would be happy to discuss the details with you. I have sent you a PM with his contact details.
