Back to Scimitars after 25 years

Post by cantus » Sat May 23, 2020 12:31 pm

Hallo there, my name is William Waardenburg and I live in the Netherlands. I am involved into Scimitars since 1980. After about 15 Scimitars incl. SE4, 5, 5A and 6 I gave up Scimitars in 1995 and continued with TVR's. the SE4 straight six (17-VX-17)was for me the special one. I bought it in 1981 , married in it in 1984 and sold it in 1987 (devorced in 1994). I discovered (17-VX-17) 3 years ago and really liked to have it back. After checking the car I decided it was too far gone and left it.
2 weeks ago I found a good coupe replacement and bought the car which was owned for many years by Sir Graham Walker. Because of the virus I couldnt pick it up yet but will do that in a couple of weeks I hope. I am really looking forward to drive a scimitar again. I had so many good times with all my scimitars and can't wait to get that back. kind regards William Waardenburg, The Netherlands

good question. don't know. i guess i wanted a change after 15 Scimitars. I used them as a daily ride. especially my LHD SE5. my ex-wife drove the SE4 on daily base. I bought about 10 scims in the uk to sell them here in the Netherlands. most of them I drove a couple of months before they moved to the next owner. made a view dollars to maintain the 4 & 5. After I bought my first TVR in 1985 (grantura MK3) I lost interest in Scimitars and went fully into TVR's. Still owning a Sag, 420SEAC , 1955 coupe and a 59 Mk1 Grantura.

Welcome,
Are you going to build a replica of your first coupe?
Nice blue colour!

I didnt buy my old coup back. it is sold to a very brave young enthusiast here in the Netherlands. I bought the champagne colored coupe instead . the blue color I choose back in the early 80's was a Maserati color.

17-VX-17 now belongs to Victor Scheren of Maastricht who is restoring it ... brave man.
