Hi all! Anyone remember this one?

Postby Dave 6A ragtop » Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:02 pm

Hi all I've always liked scimitars and when this came up local to me I felt I had to save it
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT
My immediate plans are to fix what is obviously wrong and stick it in for an MOT and see where it stands.
I was wondering if any of you remember it or have any information about her,I only know that she has been standing for at least 5 years and the previous owner believes that it may be one of 10 that were converted at the same time! I certainly havn't seen another but I'm sure one of you must know something?
So far I've replaced the perished tyres and battery and have got her running (needs a carb clean out),but she does run and will go forwards and backwards and has good oil pressure.Need to sort out the seized front calipers next.
Any input I'd love to hear
Regards Dave

welcome to the forum Dave.

This car was a steal - they wanted £1k last time we talked.

It's been the subject of a thread or two before - check here first.

The owner has confused my conversation about "Avon GTC" conversions - I specifically pointed out that their car was not an Avon Cars conversion.

Thanks Jim I thought it was unusual enough to have been noticed,Tell my wife it was a steal(I Know) but she thinks I paid £150 too much!
The boot hatch is a joke, you would be hard pushed to fit a box of cornflakes through it,but it can be easily accessed by lifting the roof cover,so I am considering just glassing it over.
Its obviously not a profesional conversion as the box section in the rear has rather poor welding and is not pretty but externally she is quite good looking (colour aside) and the shell is solid, I actually slightly prefer the way she looks to a GTC.
I really only bought her so she wasn't broken up for the running gear(I'm also restoring a 1960 Ford Galaxie Sunliner)I'm a sucker for any kind of ragtop.
I'm hoping to get her road legal and then pass her on to someone with the time and inclination to improve her further.

Hi Dave, good to see it live to fight another day :D I agree with Jim, at that price it was well worth a punt and as something a bit different it deserves to survive. Let us know how it gets on,

good luck,

As per the previously noted thread - which is worth a read - I actually saw this car years ago in Essex.

All info I remember was shared in the previous thread

Good luck

Thanks Taggers I like the 3 too but I either need to track down a fourth spinner or get 4 center caps!
And Cheers Viv I might take you up on that latter in the year, funny enough I'm working in Portsmouth for the next 6 months.
And sorry for the slow replies I didn,t notice the entries.
