Black 6b 5 speed (no longer for sale)

Post by MarkHawkins » Mon Dec 03, 2018 9:45 am

We have a Black 6b, 5 speed which we would like to sell.
1980, black, I believe number 67, June 1980
Manual 5 speed conversion (very neat, feels slick), cable clutch (light in operation), Wind up windows.
Webasto roof (rebuilt a few years ago).
PAS
Black cloth trim - tidy complete interior.
Weber carb, manual choke
Standard Cologne (not unleaded - previous owner used lead substitute)
Tubular manifolds, stainless exhausts
Stainless tank
Chassis has been cleaned off and repainted (non galvanised)
Doors open and close well - no dropping
Rear hatch opens and closes well but has locking issues
Purchased earlier this year from a local enthusiast who has now sold his cars and spares (we initially went just for the Coupe spares ..). He hadn't used it for 3 years. We've got it back and running with fresh rubber water pipes and brake linings plus got the lights, wipers etc working.
The car was repainted in 2 pack a few years ago but this has blistered in a few places (goes down after an extended dry spell) so paint looks fine from a distance but doesn't bare too close an inspection.
The car is presented as a rolling restoration.
I've driven the car a bit - it's smooth and quiet plus the gear change is accurate and clutch light. However it is not particularly fast, noisy or exciting in the same way OPJ or HBL are so we haven't really 'bonded' with it and would let it go as is for £2000.

Yes, it is located just outside Banbury. William needs another modern daily driver so this one has to be converted to cash. The mileage is around 93,000 which judging by the interior is probably correct. The previous owner tried to sell 3 Scimitars in one local auction at once about 3 years ago. One sold (the Avacado 5, possible ex motor show then registered for the road later) but the other two didn't - this is one of them. There is a claim that this 6b was a Reliant factory conversion, testing out the fitment of the 5 speed box, but this is probably just a rumour (passed to the previous owner by the PO etc) The price reflects that the car has been off the road 3 years - we think it is realistic.

I've found the link to the '72 registered 5 that went to auction with the 6b 3 years ago -

I don't have any pictures of the Coupe that was with it.
