Been to look at this GTC YLV510W

Post by Steve_S » Sun Apr 29, 2018 7:18 pm

Hello guys been to look at this GTC today 29-4-2018
Im posting this up for information only so if any body wants to go look they have a heads up on what to expect and not a moan about the seller

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C980850

It needs a massive amount of work the gel coat has blistered very bad all over very bad down the n/side and it will require a complete strip and respray some remedial repairs of the glass fiber due to cracks, the interior is destroyed and will need everything replacing possible bar the dash, The suspension has sagged the chassis needs welding repairs which will require the removal of the body, the wiring requires a complete overhaul the boot lid is jammed shut, engine sound sweet but did not drive it so cant comment on the drive train.

The owner Richard is very up front and is a mechanic by trade and knows his onions.

I don’t think that’s on the register - did you get the chassis number?

The K&N filter is a give away, not fuel injection.

The owner said he had fitted the 2.9 as a replacement for the 2.8 it had 3 exhaust port heads

There were a few 2.9i converted to carb in various Fords, back in the day. You had to use a modified 2.8 inlet manifold and dizzy IIRC.

In the interior shot, it looks like an A4LD-type gear selector, which may point in that direction?

edit - beaten to it by Jim!

I gather it almost became popular when the spoils from the Middlebridge auction were floating around for not much money.

Seems like a good buy at that money for someone who wants a project.
