Won't be the first time a car has sold outside of eBay.

It's a tough call for the seller if they're offered a cash deal that's above the current bid price. The problem is that nowadays people hold off until the last 30 seconds before placing their bid. That really doesn't help a seller, and an "off eBay" sale prior to the auction ending is sometimes the result !

its not the first bid that matters it is the last before the gavel goes down.... seller should put a reserve if they have a minimum price expectation.

your right it isn't the first time an item has sold outside of ebay but when a seller tells a prospective purchaser taking the time to view the car that they will not end the auction early no matter what the offer... it is out of order.

classic car sales man knew exactly what the car was but was reticent with some facts.

Hows about the 'local solicitors' they were selling for didn't know what it was, the garage did, and was hoping to keep the sale price low with a wrong description as wanted to buy themselves and sell at full value? Then realised the bids were getting too high so pulled the advert for a rethink? Maybe Im cynical, but that's my theory :) lol

Following on with Daves line of a conspiracy theory. Just maybe the garage didn't know either until he read the details given out here.

I have been told the reason for withdrawal is that the car refused to start. That is to be sorted and it will be relisted.

Refused to start......mmmmm

Now if it was an Essex engine then a little spark and some petrol and it would go

Mechanic must be still working on it.

Agree - they did not know until they found out here - I spoke to him and requested a view BUT he didn't get back to me - it's all a little suspect if you ask me :w
