SS1 Roll hoop bar

Post by Turner998 » Thu Oct 10, 2019 8:16 pm

Hi. Has anyone got a roll bar for sale. Also what is the gearbox mount from please as the sierra one I bought is different to the one that came with the type 9 5 speed mounting I have acquired for conversion.
Thanks in advance. Craig.

The actual metal/rubber mount should be the same although they were riveted to the metalwork on the Sierra I think. The metal bit between the mount and chassis is SS1 specific (not shared with a Ford) and also differs between 4 and 5 speed gearboxes.

I think I’ve understood your question correctly but happy to be guided with a picture if I’ve got it wrong.

Cortina rather than Sierra.

Thanks Phil. The mounting plate for 5 speed I have as came with type 9 from a ss1 from a good person here. The mounting I refer is the rubber/ metalistic mounting with single centre bolt I to gearbox. The mounting that came with the box had a flat bottom to sit onto ss1 plate. The one from fleabay is not flush mounting i.e. The 2holes to bolt to the mounting plate have a step up, so box will be about 10mms higher. A picture would explain.

Not a Reliant / "club" design of bar.
I have had this type before and I believe they were manufactured by Alleybars (sp?)

Arguably not as strong as only located by the base plate and not tied into the B pillar.

In that case, Cortina/Escort as eluded to by reliant-reviver.
