Wanted GTC, late Sabre ... or Sabre Six (the grail)

After nearly 5 years of Scimitar ownership (with an SE5, an SE6a and an SST under my custody)
I am enjoying every single day of it - even when they throw a tantrum 😅 -

Recently a good friend of mine - Xavier Audiau, chief editor of an auto magazine, who also owns an SS1 -
asked me if we should buy together one more English classic to share 😉
While we are considering at the moment a couple of options - a Jag X300 or an XKR - we always
keep an eye on Scimitars ... both of us being nuts about those cars 😄
Also the perspective of loosing our driving license if we get the XKR (400 bhp 4.2L with compressor !)
brings us back to Reliant 😉

We are neither looking for a project - already too busy improving our current cars - nor a concourse car ,
but a good solid car well maintained and if possible good looking 😁
GTCs or late Sabres are tempting, but tbh our grail would be a Sabre Six 😍
We know that they are as rare as hens' teeth ... but it does not hurt asking, does it 😇 ?

Open to suggestions !
Cheers, Fred

Your choice of a Sabre Six is an excellent one. But being the owner of two such cars plus the Sabra/Sabre Prototype, perhaps we are biased.
Barry Job’s Sabre Six has just been sold after a few years on the market, but we are not aware of any other good roadworthy Sabre Sixes for sale at the moment. If you fancied a Sabra (LHD) you could bid for the car being auctioned at the Bonhams Scottsdale auction this Thursday. It has an estimate of $80,000 to $100,000 but no reserve.

The red Sabre Six raced by the Drabbles was up for sale recently; it carries number plates so might be road-registered still.

Another couple of cars perhaps worth considering.

Sabra GT for sale in Belgium - The seller has indicated a price of €40,000.

There was a nice Sabre Six for sale in New Zealand. The asking price was the equivalent of about £15,000. This sounds very reasonable, but you would need to add about £4,000 to get the car to Europe to cover shipping, port duties either side, VAT (5% on this age of car) and marine insurance. In any case the owner has indicated that he would prefer the car to stay in New Zealand.
