Thanks All. Hi Mark they are electric. I can't part with them until I source the ones on the right in the picture, else my car will have no mirrors. I will swap them though and pay cash if anyone is interested I'm not worried about the mechanism, as I will convert item to a modern system if necessary. If someone does want to swap there will be done wiring to do as the left ones are fully electric. The ratchet solenoid in the right picture ones is pretty rubbish, so will need wormprobably.

If anyone needs the left type they were used on the ford Capri and some older taxis. There were a couple on eBay.

The LEFT type are Ford, its the RIGHT ones that were Ford, SS1/SST/Sabre & FX4 IIRC.
Reliant partsworld/mx5partworld in Cannock had a few NOS the last time I visited.

I think there may be some confusion creeping into this thread between left and right as on the car, and left and right as on the diagram that Elvis posted earlier?.....

Mark are you sure? the line drawing of the right mirror does not look like the standard mirrors fitted to my ss/sabre cars. The shape of the plinth is wrong it looks to me to be an electric mirror for the late 6b and late se8 as I have already mentioned, not the ss range. It is a poor incomplete drawing though, unfortunately I can't get pictures of the ones fitted to my GTC's at the moment, but they are the same.

Just had another look at the line drawings and they are very confusing as they don`t show the cables/wires.

So I give up second guessing.

Elvis can you tell us where the pictures came from as they don`t seem to be Scimitar related?.

Yes Roger, it really need clarification, a photograph would be better than a line drawing.

Left mirror in diagram, this one is easy to find, as fitted to Taxis, ford capris etc - one on eBay at the moment. Made of metal.
Right mirror in diagram And per second photo. I believe it's plastic, bottom part maybe metal. Top part is apparently used on other cars, but I don't know which.

We'll have resized the files and still can't post them? If you look on here at "the cars" the mirror on the right in the pic is shown on the GTE 6B.

I have been referring to left and right on the diagram line drawing, not in the car.

these are the three mirrors you have mentioned the top is the standard style internal adjust original fitment (although the one pictured is the rarer near side) second is the ss range which is electric and final one the late 6b/se8 electric one. The black one you have pictured is from a capri and different to the ones fitted to a scimitar. Reliant fitted chrome/stainless ones, with longer internal cables, as they are fitted to the lower section of the door and have a chrome interim adjust handle. I think the angle of the plinth is different. It is likely ford and reliant sourced them from the same manufacturers but they are different specifications. With work the capri ones can be made to fit but take care routing the cable as it is too short so opening the windows can adjust the mirror or rip out the cables  (done that my self). It is my understanding that supplies of the standard mirrors were running out, maybe they were too expensive, ford were changing to electric so reliant sourced another mirror (the third one) these were fitted to some lotus vehicles and are rare.

I'm not sure how long the cables are compared to the Capri or Scimitar manual mirrors, but there are also manual adjust small sports mirrors - and at least two different feet (one has two studs, the other has one stud and one bolt - which is accessible from the outside).
