Wing mirror

You mean SS1 mirrors? Yes but arn't those also old and difficult to get?

Luckily I was out-bid on the MGF ones that I realised are intended to go though the corner of the window rather than on a pillar mounted on the door - and thus would have been too low.
I am now wondering about Fiat 500 electric mirrors that do have a pillar and seem also to have 5 wires so I expect they are not Canbus controlled. You can even get them in chrome!

I just received a pair of Fiat 500 (the new one!) door mirrors for about £60 brand new. Looking very promising. Minimal to zero intrusion into the door skin (unlike Mini ones) and I have a choice of mounting them higher up with a bit of a wedge underneath needed, rather like the originals, or lower down the door with virtually no spacer needed at all, but sticking out further.
I've just confirmed that they are not CANBUS controlled - just ordinary 12v. Not only electrically adjustable with non knackered glass but heated too!. All I need is some suitable joysitck controls - which I reckon I can put in the same place as the original joysticks - plus some wiring

Set them to a neutral position before attempting to fix them to the door, with you in a normal position in the drivers seat.
Reliant made the mistake of Mirroring, no pun intended, the rubber mounting pads, and as the Passenger mirror was designed for a driver sitting in the Left seat there was not enough adjustment for a RH driver to set the mirrors perfectly central.

I have seen a few passenger doors with slots and multiple holes cut into them to get the mirror in the correct position.

Great idea. And I now wonder whether that is what is wrong with my existing pass mirror - ie that it was never OK
I just thought it was just faulty!

The full lock on the pas mirror was just not enough for a standard driver to see enough, so they pushed the glass back to get a better view and that destroys the flimsy monkey metal gimbal that the mirror rely`s upon to work correctly.
I have a few good chrome mirrors that have the internals broken.
