SS1 windscreen needed in France

Post by DARK STAR » Mon Nov 20, 2017 2:01 pm

Guy Lallement writes about his SS1400 ...

The windscreen is cracked from top to bottom, I want to know the origin of the windscreen to replace it. An English friend told me that it was a Ford Fiesta model, with no other indication. Can you give some information ?

Replied in your other post but they’re available from the club.

If you can’t sort transport you’ll probably need to go to one of the manufacturers like Pilkington who presumably sell in France. It’ll cost more but do you have glass cover on your vehicle insurance in France?

I said to Guy that the cars are homologated in France so possibly a distributor like CarGlass might have it in their database.
Normally french insurance covers broken glass but there will surely be an exclusion for anything which is not in the database
French insurers are even more efficient than english ones at avoiding giving money to their clients.

As I said in your other post, club traders may have them and they will transport (for a price obviously).

SS1 windscreen needed in France

Hi Chris

Ian and I used Channel-Hopper to deliver the Essex two weeks back, collected from me at 7.00am with Ian by 7.30pm local time!
Worth contacting them for a quote?

John
PS I will be in Cannes Friday to Sunday if interested

I was quite impressed by the way Channel-hopper took the trouble to stack & secure goods in transit. Hea handles everything from engines to antique furniture, so should be capable of handling a properly-wrapped windscreen.
