Se6b front shock absorbers wanted

I bought a new set of adjustables from GW, and tried them on my 5 and GTC with no issues i don't think there is a size difference on the front ones.

may depend on the make

Shocks are possibly the same, as ride height is controlled by spring length - the shock is unlikely to hit either end stop with either spring (5 series/6 series) fitted. As long as the eye ends are the same size.

As Jim says, they are interchangeable on the fronts, the spring, that holds the ride height up, WILL go coilbound before you fully compress the damper unless you have some special springs made/fitted.
Also as Geraint says MOST shocker sets will fit MOST models, AFAIK the only specific shocker for a model is the MONROE GASMATIC, these were introduced for the FRONT of SE6/A models due to the factory spring being too soft.

Some "Complete" units used 14" springs on the rear sets, and some 13" so be wary when mixing dampers and springs.

My springs are ok so could be fitted to the 5a shocks . I'm only asking as there are some on eBay and I don't want the expense of new adjustable coilovers just yet as have other jobs to do.
PS yes that was me in tangmere, what were you in then rebel?

I've been looking at the parts diagrams on GW and it appears that all models have different part numbers for front shocks so I could be throwing money away

Originally they would have but over the years I think the aftermarket replacements have converged to reduce the number of dampers required. Same has happened with springs, where I think the only ones supplied by the traders now, are what used to be called “uprated”.
