Brake master cylinder SE4 or SE5

Post by roymck » Sun Apr 14, 2019 7:06 pm

Looking for a original style large reservoir Girling 7/8 brake master cylinder in new condition Or good used condition that I can rebuild . I have so far tried 2 different make of pattern cylinders and both are rubbish. Just need to get my brakes sorted .

Brake master cylinder SE4 or SE5

Hi Roy,
No doubt you've seen this one. A bit pricey though and it's badged Lucas so it's not period NOS.
Are your cylinders so bad they can't be reconditioned? I've usually managed to recover even apparently scrap cylinders by careful dismantling, cleaning and honing.

Do you want one with the integrated reservoir or the separate plastic one?

I think I’ve got one of each but would need to dismantle then to check the state of the bore.

I'll have a dig around when I pop into the garage. I believe they are all original Girling units but it's a while since I've studied them!

Original "GIRLING 875 Brake Master Cylinder" available. All taken apart, cleaned and ready for rebuild. It was a spare for my SE5. Car sold, so not required. I have a New set of seals to go with it. £25. Including P&P.
