New V6 (Essex) ALLOY cam timing gear sets

Post by reliant-reviver » Wed Sep 04, 2019 10:32 am

AT LAST!

These are now here, physically in stock and ready to dispatch.

£149.00 plus delivery which is £7.45 (per shipment) to mainland UK destinations and as advised to all other locations and countries.

Offered to existing forum members and current RSSOC members on a first come first served basis before they will be made available to the wider masses at a more usual (higher) price.

Each set includes :
1 x Alloy camshaft timing gear wheel
1 x Steel crankshaft gear sprocket
1 x Timing case oil seal
1 x Gasket set for timing case
1 x Roll pin to fit fuel pump drive wheel

Supplied as a complete kit to enable full installation to be carried out either with the engine in situe or during the course of a fuller rebuild.

The risks and failures of the original equipment "fibre" and "nylon" timing wheels are well documented. A partial or complete failure of the timing gear causes the valve timing to be disrupted usually resulting in major engine failure from valves and pistons making contact.
Steel timing gears have for a long time been available but have their own drawbacks with greatly increased gear noise often being characteristic and this is often found to be unacceptably loud for many road users. There is also the possibility on tuned and high revving motors that at very high RPM engine speeds the combination of steel timing gear and steel crank gear can cause the camshaft to fracture.

This kit provides what could be deemed the best alternative to the OE arrangement. With a complete one piece alloy timing gear and matched replacement steel crank gear. The combination of steel and alloy gears contacting through helical cut teeth results in a much quieter working assembly.

New V6 (Essex) ALLOY cam timing gear sets

Hi Phil,
Glad to see the new batch have arrived!
As a footnote to installation, it may be prudent to have a spare sump gasket to hand as the front timing cover sits on the front section of the sump pan and when you remove the front timing cover it may (most likely!) destroy the sump gasket :(
Cheers
Kev

Good point and duly noted. Shall investigate and see if I can look to stock and offer those also.

The GTE's are a slight step out of my usual territory really, it's only through a sort of wandering progression that I have ended up taking these on board. Hopefully though it serves as the first step in offering a few more Scimitar components through my existing retail business, we shall see where it leads!

Now on eBay also, got itchy fingers and launched the listing earlier. Priority will be given to those on the forum / in the club however and the price is of course much better here than via our favourite online trading platform with their fees.

Yes send me a PM (private message) and I'll come back to you.

Do excuse the convoluted contact route, but there is method to my madness and it is so I can keep track of whom on here is contacting me and benefiting from the lower price I have offered here.

I shall launch a new website / webshop at a later date to simplify things. But until then the to and fro method is best.

And found in my personal spam box. Not sure why it's being over zealous.
Reply on it's way.

Quick post to say there are still plenty of kits available. I think I've offered to and "served" everyone who had expressed previous interest now, so it's first come first serve at the price advertised here for direct purchases from club and forum members.

I may need a kit. Just need to check my car if it has one (I'm sure it doesn't) I hope it stops raining so I can check.

Will be in touch soon.
