There’s a 48k miles from new SE6 in danger of being broken for spares being discussed on the club Facebook page at the moment. It’s been offered as a going concern but apparently there was no interest.

I’m not an SE6 expert so don’t know whether it’s an SE6, 6a or 6b but from memory it’s either a W or X registration. It was allegedly build by Graham Walker and has a Capri type 2.8 injected engine fitted from new. I saw the car a while back (owned by the same person I bought my car from) and it needs some work and general recommissioning but does not a total restoration.

I have absolutely nothing to gain whether the car sells or not, but it seems a real shame to see it broken if anyone can save it hence why I’m mentioning it here. I can’t give you contact details, but as I said there’s a discussion of FB at the moment and I’m sure you’ll find out more there.

I believe it is.

I think, finally, a value for the whole car has emerged of £800?

What a shame . I’ve seen this car in storage . Is there damage to the fibreglass?

Nose needs repairs apparently

But it needs that and the loom fixing #From what we know#

It would have been mine, except no storage space for me.

Worth saving for the fact it's one of the few GW built ones (well I think it's an interesting point)

Yeah 800 is his "happy to let go" price as I so eloquently didn't put it on FB, mainly to have the figure out and on display without the "noone wants it" carrying on and there still wasn't a price mentioned

SE6 For Sale/Being Broken for Spares

Post by Geraint SabreGTCse5 » Tue Jan 23, 2018 8:59 pm

This car has found itself in my ownership and it has fallen short of the description and another case of the camera flatters. :?

I spoke to GW and they never built the car from scratch, they fitted a 2.8 injection kit he may have fitted a complete engine but there is no log book to check numbers. They sprayed the car black (was originally blue) and fitted the gold trim in a GPS style. Every chrome item inside the car has been painted black from seat adjusters to the hanger hooks.
She is fitted with a seized 2.8i engine and unfortunately there is no 5 speed gearbox just a standard 4+overdrive. Leather interior has dried out causing splitting and has had a little furry visitor who has enjoyed a chew on most things.
The car has suffered a significant engine bay fire. The Bulkhead has been “repaired” very poorly and looks like a black painted pebble beach. The n/side front wing has had a partial repair, the front panel has lost all its resin and someone has skimmed it with bodyfiller. The fire was severe enough to melt the carpets and the behind the dash wiring is welded to the bulkhead. Fire seems to have originated in the area the airbox was fitted and tracked the fuel line, very lucky it wasn't completely lost. It needs a new front end including bulkhead, probably easier to swop the body.

The Chassis looks to be in reasonable condition someone has painted it with a tar based paint over the crusted rust! There is quite a list of missing parts from half an exhaust to the 2.8i air box.

I am all for a challenge and in all honesty I bought the car for the “recently” run 2.8i and supposed type 9 to fit in the next GTC project. It was my intention to put a standard engine and box back in and flog it on as a project.
Its future is bleak, it has no redeeming features, there are far better projects out there and this is going to give a new definition to the phrase money pit. I am quite philosophical about it and maybe it should be another lesson to prospective buyers/current owners who value a car having only seen a few pictures.

I suppose I can recoup some of the outlay on the 2.8 axle and gearbox, i have a partial 2.8i kit and bonus I now have electric mirrors and a melted loom for the next GTC :D .
