A nice working area now. Have a free day Sunday so hoping to get engine/box off the chassis, then axle and suspension off. Then deliver a big pile to my friendly local shotblaster! Also picked up a 3.54:1 PowrLok LSD.

Engine and gearbox out, and the front suspension off. One trunnion bolt to ‘persuade’ out (I reckon a subtle blend of heat and violence will do it), and then I’ll drop the axle etc off and we’re there :)

Anyone know what size bit you need for the flywheel bolts?

It’s just a normal bi-hex socket - only did this a week ago and can’t remember if it’s 9/16” or 5/8”!

Thanks again - 9/16” it turns out. Lucky I didn’t have a proper purge when I changed all my 12pt sockets for 6pt a while ago...

No pictures (sorry!) but the chassis is now totally stripped. Looks good apart from the front of both outriggers! The metric ton on Waxoyl on it seems to have helped, although it is a pain to scrape off!

I’ve stripped the diff and CWP out of the donor axle; they look good, so those along with the standard 4HA will go off to my friendly local axle man this week. Have ordered a load of UNF bolts for reassembly, and Luke kindly helped me press out most of my bushes - just some rubber ones to burn out, then some of the inner races to cut out and the suspension is ready to go to the blasters.

Axle and LSD off with Simon Constable, and the chassis/suspension off being blasted/primed. Should get it back next weekend, then suspension to paint and rebush before delivering the lot to Iain Daniels in Dec... pics to follow!

Cheers Luke :)

Chassis & suspension back - a few frills but nothing outrageous... booked in to drop it all with Danny next month:

Good grief

I don’t see the rear bumper bar - are you going for the smooth back end?

That’s some top quality guano there..

That (and the outriggers) are standard issue rot spots; aside from the frilly bit by the seatbelt mount then there’s nothing out of the ordinary.

Nothing nicer than a good ol' bit of shotblasting. Looks like you've got a fairly healthy starting point there :D

Seatbelt mounts won’t be an issue with 6pt harnesses and a roll cage :) but will be sorted nonetheless.

I’m not planning on having bumpers, hence the lack of bumper bar. The back end of the chassis might get cut off and replaced with something lighter anyway!

Unless there’s a very good reason, I wouldn’t as it would immediately need (and probably fail) an IVA..
