Daimler V8 perfect choice, a jewel of an engine in a jewel of a car, perfect.

What gearbox are you using out of interest?

James used a Jaguar gearbox to mate to the Daimler engine, simply because he had one from a MK2, he was aware of the standard/triumph boxes that are sometimes used in the SP250, but didn’t have one to hand. He made a custom flywheel/clutch assembly. You’ll probably have noticed that he also used Daimler dash/dials, moved the wiper motor, used a rod carb linkage and hid most untidy stuff under the bonnet.
Out of interest he’s got the red Daimler SP250 on the cover of Brian Long’s Daimler book in for restoration ATM, it still looked nice, but the engine and chassis needed a fair bit of work.

Ben, good to see some more photos of the Daimler-engined Coupe :D Fascinating to think that that could have been the way the Coupe would have gone, had history worked out differently. It's a really neat installation too.

Also it was interesting to see TME again. Coincidentally, I was thinking of you about a week ago, as while looking for something else, I found a wallet of Enprints containing, amongst other things photographs of TME in the 1990s. A bit of detective work shows that the tax disc reads "10-95" and looking through the strips of negatives shows that the photos came after Curborough and before Shoreham Airshow, so they were almost certainly taken in the latter 2 weeks of August 1995. They were taken at a show (sadly I can't remember exactly where) and show the then owner, Gordon Wells, being presented with a concours prize (some Autoglym product IIRC). Unfortunately the quality has suffered a bit from the fact that my scanner has stopped working, so I'll try and get some better ones done.
