Tom sent me a snap of the Brooklands page and they’re numbered the opposite way to Peter’s diagrams.

Just the fan left to confirm/deny existence, all others now returned to normal service. :mrgreen:

Fan finally checked this morning, turned on at the correct temperature, turns the correct way and now means mighty is fully back up to scratch, will be reconnecting the retrofitted "the fans running so relax" light on sunday.

Next step is now just use mights as and when needed and gear up for her renovation, starting with manifold replacements

Just to confirm - the light tells you that power is going to the fan, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s turning :D :D :D

Interesting...
When the fan is unpowered and windmilling (freewheeling) in the airflow, does it generate enough to light a lamp? Does anyone know?
Perhaps Demonbluedays will see unexpected lights before his eyes?

It used to happen on 5 series when a lip spoiler was fitted - fixed with a diode.

I remember reading about it quite often in Slice, "back in the day". Always in relation to the 5-series, because the 6 doesn't come with a light! :lol:

Retrofit light Roger :D which, until it became non functional I didnt realise how much of a mind easer it actually was!

Also it only ever lit up when the fan was actually in use and not freewheeling around thanks to airflow, possibly due to said relay there before but wont know for certain until shes reconnected to the system tomorrow

Yes, it had to be a retrofit :) It does actually raise an interesting question - where is it connected in the circuit? Is it in the otter switch side (i.e. before the relay) or the fan side (i.e. after the relay)?

Fan side :wink: Terry understands it better than I, but the light operates the same as it did when the relay was fitted I.e when the fan is triggered by the otter, both fan and light kick in, once the otter is "reset" by the temperature dropping the light and fan then both cut out. Also worth noting that the fans rotation from airflow when driven doesnt trigger the light coming on the dashboard :mrgreen:

I'll get a photo of its temporary setup (as I'm intending to tidy the wiring up in that area soon) to show how its wired in

The way it's wired at the moment it shows the Otter switch is working. The fan comes on when otter is in operation and when the otter cools it stops the fan and light goes out. If light stays on for a longer time than normal it would suggest the fan hasn't cut in which would mean the fan has stopped working for some reason. Not sure I've explained that very well.

Dunlop and GTE wheel centres, does anybody have some spare? Do have the wolf race branded ones at the moment, and was going to swap them with my old GTE ones left over from link...but they're no good.

Small update more for myself so I can remember later depending which way I go for the interior:

New front and rear seats

Or retrofit 200sx rear seats to mighty...still unsure

Renovate/replace shield badges all round

Remove engine...maybe gearbox too - will be necessary for repaint and allow me to do the odd jobs on it and wiring tidy up properly once paint done.

Remove interior to make re carpeting easier.

Get wheels rarted up, both sets

Find centre caps.

Something must be in the air with my/our cars lately :roll:

Fox is currently off road as MOT is now expired and I havent had time weather or chance to get underneath and swap her ARB which were an advisory last year but will definately be borderline this year.

Sarinas new toy (not a bike!) "NEJ" a late pre facelift mokka needs its brakes looking at as to quote her this weekend "tried to stop in the rain and they (brakes) were...a bit sh17" which is a worry as it's only done 37k and its all round discs...and considering this is the third mokka shes driven I'll trust her judgement on that

And then finally...Mights....this morning shes decided it's her turn to play up....

When turning thr ignition key shes fine until you come to the final turn to start....ar which point it becomes less a smooth turn and more of a "I'm gonna break the key in a minuite" difficult "snap around". Now looking at it, I get the sneaking feeling I may have to take the ignition barrel out. Anyone have any advice or pointers on what could be causing this?

I have already suspected at worst I may need a new barrel but trying to avoid that if this one is currently salvagable.

Question is whether it's the mechanical (key) bit or the contact block causing the issue. One you should know about..
