 Yeah really confident :?

It would've been easier and possibly cheaper to rebuild the Speed Six....again!! But where's the fun in that??... and no doubt it would've let me down again

It has to be ready, and as long as there's no surprises late on it will be.

More good news from the DVLA; the dossier required to get the V5 including 3 forms of ID, current pictures of the car, the VIN on the chassis, the VIN plate and VIN sticker?? Couldn’t manage the later, but managed the rest and aparently the V5 is on its way tomorrow, which is a big relief as that could’ve really scuppered my plans

And some “during” pics of the quickshift conversion..

I have no after pics as I haven’t taken any, but it looks the same with a different lever which doesn’t have the strange chrome skirt on it!?

Next up will be Paul’s favourite Curborough trick..

Turn up at a test day, smash everyone’s times.. then realise after a paddock tinker session that all the shocks were wound off

Well the vertical link is bent in an backwards, I know the car has had a bump at some time so it must have been overlooked... Parts were delivered this morning so no major hold up.

I’d not realised Mark, I usually swap the drums for discs so haven’t had much to do with them for a while. What’s the difference?

Is the wheel cylinder one that “slides”?

If not it’s got the later stuff based on MGB, which I personally prefer

Size and the Shoes, the 5a Girling drum also has a slight recess on the outside, which is why I noticed.

If you pull the drum its obvious weather its Girling, 5a, or Lockheed, 6a, the Girling has an alloy piston with the handbrake lever underneath it operating by pushing the cylinder to equalise the shoes.
The Lockheed uses an Iron piston and the handbrake lever operates independently through a large lever mechanism on BOTH shoes.

The Lockheed system is FAR superior to Girling.

Ah, no it’s not the one with the long handbrake link lever it just acts on the cylinder
