So after the first drive (100 miles around the Peak district) out there were quite a few things to address before I was going to be happy driving the car to Le Mans on 13th June.
Brake dust cover catching
Gearbox not selecting properly
Vibration over 65mph
Speedo / Tacho not working
Tailgate rattling
Suspension bottoming out (on bumpy roads at speed)
Interior (lots to do here)

First to address is the handling & vibration. New tyres all round and ride height increased (for now).
Brake dust cover was an easy fix
Gearbox, might need sending away but for now if I don't gear change under hard acceleration then we are ok.
Tailgate seems to latch fine but defo rattles when out and about (any thoughts on this from anyone would be appreciated)
Speedo / Tacho, temp fix is an app on my phone for the speedo. I know I could replace with new period correct smiths gauges but I love the "traficators!" and would like to keep the originals. I have spares so will get these sorted and the tacho sent out to work on V8

Interior list is quite lengthy

First job is the doors.
I have polished the stainless top trim and bonded on new weather strips
I bought some perforated vinyl to make new door tops trims so that should look good (will post pics once complete)
Still after some black front seats
Picked up a black rear armrest from Mr Crosby on Sunday (can't wait to see that coupe out and about)
new headliner needs to get made (by grandmother-in-law)
plus loads of other stuff I won't bore you with now.

All in all though I am thrilled to be driving the car again, it goes like a train and sounds pretty good too

SE5A V8 Upgrade and Restoration

So I have been working on the car as much as possible over the last few weeks (much to my wifes annoyance) and today (After 8 years off the road and only a few weeks back on it!) I am setting off to France to watch LeMans 24 hour!!!
New tyres have been fitted and cured the motorway vibration issue, have had the tracking done too (thanks to my suspension upgrade the car was toeing out several degrees!)
Tailgate still rattles when running over uneven ground (everywhere in the UK) I think it is the gas strut connections though rather than the latch.
Both doors are build back up and waterproofed (time will tell on that, probably wishful thinking), I made new panel for the drivers side, ran out time for passenger side but I did get the top trimmed up. Also made a panel for the centre console/gear selector as the original was butchered to get the new gear stick fitting, and one for the side of the heater matrix to tidy tis up.

Also purchased a twin USB fan which works amazingly well :D and fingers crossed will keep the comfort levels up.
As my speedo is not working, I have an app on my phone which is really good. I bought an in-car mobile holder that type that fits in the CD slot, however I have no stereo so fashioned this out of some Plywood. Doesn't look pretty but works well.
