Hi, I spotted your car on the Sporting Bears stand, but you weren't with it - not surprising really, as I wasn't with mine either! There's so much to see that you always tend to spend quite a lot of time "out and about". I didn't realise you were on Woodlands, until you overtook me on the tractor shuttle on Sunday morning!

While it obviously could have been better, I didn't actually think the weather was *too* bad, I've been photographing motor racing since the mid '60s, and know that you need to prepare for anything in this country. :) It was only really wet on Saturday, and then mainly in the morning (it did unfortunately spoil Simon Drabble's race in the Sabre, though.)

Anyway here's a couple of shots of your car:

Hi Roger
thanks for the photos,
yes I did enjoy the weekend very much, it was good to see a lot of Reliants at one show.
I'll definitely be going again. At least the rain made for entertaining racing.
the Woodlands campsite is quite a monster, so difficult to find anyone, if the weather had been better I would have had a walk around the campsite.

Hi All,
with the lockdown and all the car meets & LeMans Classic cancelled I decided to spend the time prepping the car for painting.
So off came all the stickers and all the bright work,

next came top coat, loads of information gathering as I was attempting this myself in my garage.
the Le Mans Classic weekend was picked as the weekend as my friend and I were supposed to be in Le Mans anyway so it seemed fitting to do something special.
all i can say is it's a lot harder than it looks on the telly, but the result is pretty good, I have some areas to cut back a bit, but generally we got a good shine

6 coats of Signal red , as novices we used probably more paint than necessary , this has got 4 ltrs of paint on it !
it's not the original red, but the car had been sprayed before so couldn't really match anything
I think it was suppose to be Traffic red, but I got a can of that as a tester and it looked more orange.

That looks a fantastic result for your first time spaying!
I have been following your logic re working on car with no Le Mans. Have completely re surface tissued my coupe and spending hours sanding.

l that looks great-if you have a lot of paint on it and its well hard you will be able to block sand it with 1500 on bad orange peel ,working to 3000 grit-then a compond of your choice-this can also get rid of a lot of the little nibs that gather on the surface when not using an extractor system

kudos to you for tackling it yourself-i dont mind the painting/polishing but hate prep /masking-most i have done in the last few years is a few van touch ups and the odd sill etc
