MoT booked for Saturday. Have been quoted £60 a wheel to make them round again. So the plan is to see what the MoT throws up before spending out on wheels / tyres.
Red / Blue anti freeze question because the Reliant Manual that came with the car seemed to suggest Ford long life red antifreeze.

Interesting, I read that antifreeze colours don't always correlate to their properties.

good job i use old blu-col then as the pipe running from back of pump to back of block (under exhaust) is a home made using 1/2" or 15mm&22mm from plumb-center :D
NB the heater certainly has brass stubs on mine, no idea what's inside as so long since looked at it . . . . .

Went for MoT today - one bottom ball joint bad and handbrake not working well on one wheel plus an overly dim number plate bulb. I believe the bottom ball joints are from Chevettes - the local motor factors say they should have some in on Monday at £10 each.

Thanks. Now taxed and ready for William to drive to his work experience placement rebuilding Jensens. The 1600 / 5 speed is a big improvement over the 1300 / 4 speed.

L plates fitted and a couple of trial runs out - all OK but have noticed the lights aren't as good as those on the 'big' Scimitars.

Probably as lights are a wee bit lower than on a GTE? so the light beam can't reach out as far before hits the road... maybe halogens in GTE?

or as you are going faster in the SS1 vs GTE they appear poorer due to 'overtaking' the illuminated zone :-)

SS1 dipped beams as original suffer from a tortuous route through a plethora of switches and relays, resulting in reduced voltage at lights, thus lower light output. That coupled to p*ss poor beam-forming by the reflectors gives miserable lighting.
If not already done, use the existing dipped beam wiring to activate relay providing 12 V direct from battery (but of course fused).
It's possible to modify the wiring to existing fuses to do this.
Consider better bulbs.
Bi-Xenon conversion is also possible.

I think the first thing to do will be to ensure both reflectors are good (one slightly dull) then change the bulbs. Yes, halogens in the GTEs and the 5a has been set up as 4 dip / 4 main so nice and bright.

I fitted headlights Jim supplied the other week and they are much better. Both doors managed to lock themselves shut today but a few minutes with a metal hook we'd fashioned earlier in the year to help fit the GTC bonnet release cable had it open. Bucket seats are now stretched to fit better and some shiny round 14" 'bottle tops' have been obtained from Phillip A.
