Unless the engine and box don't always come from the same donor car?

Didn't some of the Altezza (JDM is200) come with a turbo 4-pot - or is it something very left field?
Correct Phil, it's a bolt on job but not obvious at all, and it's in a car currently produced...

Are we thinking of something that's currently used to drive the front wheels ?

Both correct, should've known it wouldn't take long!! 2.0 Ecoboost mated to MX5 6 speed box... I had a Focus ST and the engine was very impressive but totally wasted in a front wheel drive car

I think it'll work well, and I struggled to find motivation to do anything that's been done before, so it's good in that respect too! Getting excited about this one; but I need to get the sprint car finished too so I don't want to get too carried away... yet

Never seen (or rather "heard") a decent 4 pot GTE (Fiat twin cams, Fords various, etc) but if anyone can do it I'm sure you can :-)

Cheers Jim, I consider the exhaust note and design a priority as its key to pulling this off, because as you say it's always the bit that lets the 4 pot conversions down.. Well that and using gutless heavy lumps that don't bring any major performance gains!

I think the beauty of the four pot is the fairly compact packaging. When I measured up my ca18det against the engine bay on the GTC, it looked like it'd be a perfect fit with plenty of space for a custom tubular manifold and T28.

One thing that did occur to me, was how the loss of a big chunk of weight may affect the handling. With the correct springs, it'd more than likely improve it

I lost about 80kg from the front with going X30XE and doesn't seem to have any adverse effects at the moment..

I want to be able to use the GTC, so 9 mpg is just not acceptable as nice as it sounds

Removing weight from the front or anywhere can only be a nice problem to have? I'm expecting the finished car to come in around 1000kg or maybe less, it would be nice to have 50/50 distribution too! I think getting the spring rates right will take some experimentation, but I have a good idea where to start..
