Oaksey's 5

Post by Oaksey » Sat Oct 18, 2014 5:49 pm

Yeah, I bought it. It seems I have a reputation for having 10 pages of project thread before getting the car so I decided to start one once I'd got the car this time

My beautiful pair :w

Interior isn't awful

So what have I got?
A pretty sound chassis,
A sound body bar the hole at the back (despite appearances)
Ok interior (perfect headlining :D )
A seized engine,
Partially seized bonnet and fully seized boot hinges,
Fairly original wiring,
A whole heap of patina
And probably some pissed off neighbours

Anyway, straight off the trailer it went and the work began. All plugs out and some oil down the cylinders. I'll see if I. Can un seize it over the next week or so after I get a good amount of something down the cylinders. Is it redex that is said to be quite good at this or something else? I know diesel is supposed to work but I haven't got any diesel containers to go to the petrol station with.
In its home now (well, hotel probably as the parents aren't too happy with it :) )

Excellent, well done Josh, but boy have you some work ahead :D ....and some fun too of course! If the bonnet and boot hinges are seized at least you know by following my SAR thread how to deal with them :w Good luck, look forward to seeing it at Curbs next year!

That looks marginally worse than my white SE5 which had the engine and box on the seats when I bought it for £50. If it hadn't been for Mick Jennings doing the sills and painting it - it would never have been on the road in the six months it took - it would have been cheaper to buy a good car to start with but I definitely had a "built not bought" car at the end of it.

I don't know how you got away with that

You have very understanding parents. I hadn't realised that your dad had sold the Porker to free up space for your next project  or has he said yes to keep you out of the big garage whilst he builds the DET

His money he just bid  I want him in the garage for the heavy oily bits on the DET whilst I do the clean nice bits

And we had just go used to having a garage again........
