Yes read that Jim but not clear to me what it actually means  So rear drums removed and hub fitted to allow rear discs to be fitted :?: Why golf calipers and toyota discs? Does this combination apply to the front and rear brakes. Are any brake parts provided or just the bracket template :?:

Getting ahead of myself here  but in my head I am already searching for parts for this car

Oh and by the way I have now informed SWMBO of my intentions; easy peasy lemon squeezy  Pheew :!:

Golf calipers refers to the rear setup (they have a handbrake facility) MR2 discs were redrilled to suit but the offset matched the bracket (or vice versa to be more precise). No need to fit a hub - there's one behind the drum setup :-)

I think it's only a template that's provided but check with Raz.

Front brakes were going to be Merc discs with standard calipers but he ended up with Rover 825 discs.

If the car already has Chevette uprights ? There are loads of front options from PH to Wilwood (inc. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290513747531 ). Or simply bolt on your GW setup and see how you go. Rears could go back to drums if you were struggling to make it work.

From what I can gather, the car was used for circuit racing ? So braking would've been more of an issue than it would on a sprinter.

Don't worry Steve, I'll help you spend some money

Yes been reading through the threads and brake locking appeared to be an issue at some point; not sure what has changed on the car since.

Looks like I have a voyage of discovery ahead. I have enjoyed the little bit of playing with the Sabre so quite looking forward to taking this on and with a whole 12 months to get the car sorted hopefully I should have enough time and hopefully money

Speaking to Raz later so will update then.

Just spoken to Raz about the car and the deal is sealed. Most of the original stuff comes with the car and the bits he has gathered particularly for the disc conversions are available if I want them at extra cost. Raz is to email me a list so I can decide what I want. The car is to be moved to a garage in Kings Lynn for storage for collection probably in May next year :D I may have a look at laid up insurance for it; I'm sure there was a thread on this on here but can't find it

Just wondering whether a Mod could make me the owner of this thread so I can edit its title etc as it would make sense for this to become the cars project thread (I guess that means moving it to the correct section also?)

Hi Steve, just to clarify, all the bits I have for the rear disc conversion are included in the price of the car. The wilwood calipers I bought for the front will be extra. Will email a list later with some more pics :)

Even better thanks Raz. Some more pics would be great. Meant to ask you if the car has the gearbox is fitted; an internal picture seems to have the gear lever missing or maybe its an an optical illusion :)

Brilliant! Looking forward to seeing this on track, and glad its staying in one peice.

The easiest way to change the thread owner is if you make a new thread of your own, and then someone merges it with this one. I think...
