Oakesy's Ti Project - For Sale

Post by Oaksey » Mon Nov 26, 2012 8:50 pm

I've brought another car :D
It's a white 1987 SS1 Ti. With a blown engine...

After my birthday, I had some money burning a hole in my pocket and I'd spotted the car for sale a while ago. I had a day off last Friday, so me and Dad went and had a look.
It was in use up to about a year ago, when the engine went (suspected melted pistons) at 130  It's been sitting in a leaking garage since. It comes with a spare engine, with has some ancillaries like the turbo, (wrong) exhaust manifold, heat shield ect.

Here's some pictures taken when it was on the road. I suspect Greeny will approve the 17" rear wheels  :)

And here's what it looks like now:

We will pick up the engine fairly soon, so I can get that built up properly with new timing belt, plugs etc, ready to swap. We will probably be picking up the car mid December. i think we better have a huge sort out of the garage :)

I find it quite spooky how Dad had a yellow 5a, then as soon as he sold it, I got one. He has a White Ti, then when he puts it up for sale, I get a white Ti
Does this mean my next car will be a blue MK1 Sabre

Its definitely the month of the 1800 ti!
Craig Vadar will be very smug reading this...... The force is strong on young members and old fart "polishers" with bread vans!

The current (previous now) owner mentioned Chris. I contacted Phil on Friday and I got these photos of it at Curborough

Iirc he flogged it to a bloke who was in to mk1 MR2s and pretty local to shrewsbury
He titivated it and fiddled under the bonnet and then it was for sale on pistonheads for 2k iirc for a few months.
Im not sure how many hands it went through before you git it Josh.

Chris (shrewsbury streetracer) is a bit of a fuss pot when it comes to some bits on his cars, so they are usually a good buy

The Intercooler certainly looks a good job. I think the guy who bought it off Chris sold it to Phil, who I've bought it off

be interesting to whip the head off the blown engine to see what failed, valve gear, pistons or a rod

I'll be interested in seeing what the problem is. Phil said when he took the spark plugs out, the tips were melted
