Re: Swoakes SS1 DET Sprint car oil filter
Just checked back. I used HOF207 on that car. But it had to be the Halfords version and not the replacement one that they sometimes have on the shelf, as it's way too tight. So HOF287 is the way to go !

Re: Swoakes SS1 DET Sprint car oil filter
Right further investigation.
Remembered that I have some spare filters in the box....I have a 287 and a 207.
The 287 (Sabre?) I have had for a while and the 207 was one of 2 I bought recently
Just checked my emails and I bought these back in November from Halfords; I must have remembered the number wrong.
So its got a 207 on it
You can slide a piece of paper between the filter and the column but when you turn the steering wheel it snags the paper; so its definately touching.
Looks like a filter change is tomorrows job
Cheers guys; I'll bin the 207

I don't feel such an idiot now

Mine is a Halfords one Steve

I'll get the 287 fitted

Edit
We had a PM conversation about oil filters when I bought them from Halfords

Re: Swoakes SS1 DET Sprint car oil filter
I think I only used 207 because it was the correct filter for a 200sx and with a lot of faff and swearing you could fit it (oh and half the price of 287
).

Re: Swoakes SS1 DET Sprint car oil filter
Just checked out the filters. They are in the black boxes with yellow text BUT they have stick on labels on the filters. The 287 is printed on the filter itself not a label.
I reckon Halfords have put the "replacement" filter in the halfords boxes with strickers on and these are the slightly longer ones that "won't fit"

Re: Swoakes SS1 DET Sprint car oil filter
Right, following from the issues at Anglesey, the head has been taken off. No prizes for guessing which cylinder was loosing compression

After a bit of cleaning, here's cylinder 3

And now 4

This little chap was wedged in the head but by the shape of it, I'm not really sure where it's originally come from

Ow! It's not the slightly squashed remains of a spark plug electrode is it?

Re: Swoakes SS1 DET Sprint car oil filter
Likely culprit is the spark plug or a valve seat if fitted

Re: Swoakes SS1 DET Sprint car oil filter
It's not plug electrode or valve seat. It does look like ring probably.
Yeah, it's a fair gap
