If that’s bad, the fuel tank/boot floor framework is usually worse!

That thick layer of something appears to be hiding a few nasties, where do you start!

I will have another look. Hurts my knees crawling under there! It is 50:50 whether I will suggest a body off. Rear of the rails and jacking points not as bad as the front, but there is definitely some frilliness that will be difficult to get to.

On the main chassis rails, it appears to have been painted with silver Hammerite. Not sure if the rest is mud or underseal! As with the last one I did, it needs all the rot cutting away and then assess if there is anything left to weld to. I have my doubts!

The out of focus shot is a leaking fuel pipe. Just what you need when welding!

I have repaired far worse, the main rails and the tubes holding the rear trailing arms are the bits that kill them.

I've taken a vow of poverty ...... Annoy me by sending me money!!

Can't see the top rail of course, but looking at the supports, it doesn't look good.

The owner has asked to go ahead with this chassis repair, so all being well it will come into the workshop early next week for the butchery to start. Pictures will follow as and when.

Fuel tank out for safety and inspection of the chassis rear. Surprising how good it seems to be. The fuel leak was down to it having no clips on it at all, just pushed over the spigot! It looks like the tank has been out before. A little tappity tap and the chassis is on the floor...
