SE 5 hose sizes

Post by Gillsfan » Mon Jun 04, 2012 8:56 am

I'm looking at silicon hoses for Smurf, I know GW and QRG have some. I'm investigating other options, does anyone know the hose sizes I need ? I assume there are measured by internal diameter. I had a quick look but wasn't sure I was measuring it right.

Just so you don't think i'm more of an idiot than you already do :D I measured the hose from the top of the rad to the expansion tank and got different measurements at each end but it appears to be a single size hose. I'll be checking again when I haven't got a 6 and a 4 year old looking for my attention, just wondered if someone knew already.

I have a thread in the SE5 section ref hoses - and I am VERY disappointed about the state and quality of the hoses supplied by those that we support.
Many dimensions of several hoses do not meet the pattern length of the original , and next to none have been cut square.

make sure if going silicone route - then get the thicker ones as 3mm have been known to leak from time to time

The other thread doesn't answer my question. I'm looking for the sizes for this set of hoses.

Ref above.

Top 35id-45od 160 lg
Left 35id-45od 77mm x77mm internal
Right 40id-50od 35id-45od x110 lg
Bottom 25id-35od 185mm x 80 internal
Just bought a set and intend to fit them today. Have been told that the large one from the back of the water pump is going to be about 8 wks.I am just going to buy straight lengths off ebay for the rest. Any comments?
Hylton.

old thread (maybe it should be a sticky?) but can someone confirm the heater pipes (ID & length) for an SE5 please? I think they're 13 mm ID but does one of them increase in size (16mm?) at the pump?

the pump is definitely larger. I just about managed to get a one size hose on.
