Springs for Spax

Post by speedy555 » Wed May 15, 2019 10:16 pm

I meant to measure and take pics, but forgot as usual....however, I have a 5a fitted with some old height adjustable spax, but the springs are ridiculously long and too hard. Even with the spring seat wound right down it doesn't look any lower than any standard car. What size and rating of springs would you recommend ? Its just for road going use with the ability to lower its stance a bit.

Thanks !

I have 350lb 12" fronts and 225lb 14" rears on my rally car - possibly a bit hard at the front for everyday use!

Hi Dave, Faulkner Springs 01243 543049.
I've 12" 350 x 2.5 front and 12" 225 x 2.5 rear. It is a sprinter though so 300 front and 200 rear would probably suit a daily driver.

hi chaps
anyone tried any other combos ? i understand that standard are 12 on front 14 on rear, would it not be worth shortening both ? if going stiffer ?

12” all round is great on a road car, I couldn’t get the desired ride height with 14” on the back.

I have used 10.5” on the front but you loose droop.

standard are 14” all round, 180 front, 200 rear. Hence, front shortened and stiffened, rear doesn’t need as much change.

thanks chaps 12" it is then, just the debate on poundage, going through others comments, and the fact that i want fast road, and potentially sprint, F 300, R 225 ? what do we think ?

Nigel @ QRG reckons 250 all round.

No - you definitely want stiffer at the front / softer at the back, as confirmed by other people's comments

12” 300-325 front, 12” 200-225 rear would be absolutely fine
