Heater Deflector?

Should a 5a have deflector ducts fitted to the heater unit to direct air into the foot wells? If so, does anyone have a photo of what they look like please?

There are two blow moulded plastic mouldings to duct hot air into the footwell, They arnt really fitted to the heater but insead sit underneath it:

Thank you Joe, that's really useful. I'll make something up out of sheet ally as at the moment most of the warm air is disappearing off between the transmission tunnel and the carpet.
