SE5 driver's door lock

Post by GeoffTE » Wed Jun 13, 2018 12:09 pm

I've recently had a little difficulty in closing the driver's door on SAR as it wasn't closing with that reassuring click. Investigating I've discovered that the flat coil spring that gives the springiness  to the latch is broken. Here's a pic

I suppose the chances of me finding another spring are remote, so I wonder if anyone has a 5 lock, (not a 5A) driver's side, that works and that is surplus to requirements? Failing that any other suggestions welcomed . Ta in advance.
Ps No idea why two copies of the first pic are there 8)

fixed pics for you

SE5 driver's door lock

Thanks :D Failing finding a replacement lock from a 5, perhaps someone knows where there is a 5 rotting away somewhere, or perhaps someone knows from which other car Reliant sourced the lock. Although I realise the chances of finding a lock from that source are even more remote. At the moment I'm looking to see if I can bodge an alternative spring as a possible temporary solution. Could do with fixing this before Silverstone :(

Fantastic, thanks Brian. How much do you want for it? Can pay anyway you want, maybe PayPal gift? ...or cash if you're going to Curbs? I'll pm my address directly
Phew, what a relief
Er, actually unless the photograph has flipped the picture I think that’s the wrong side! I think they are handed and that is the passenger side. Can you check? And if so here’s praying you have the drivers side one

Brian, thanks very much for trying, much appreciated, but it looks as if Phil has the right one.
Phil, that looks like the one :hurrah: I'll pm my address to you and catch up maybe at Curbs or even Silverstone?
Thanks a million :D
