Silverstone Classic 31-Jul - 2-Aug 2020

Post by Old and Slow » Mon Oct 28, 2019 5:21 pm

I see the date of the F1 British GP has now been fixed, and early-bird tickets are now on sale for next years' Classic.
Are we having the Club Stand again, and if so, please put our names down to attend with the Sabre Six.
Lets hope the weather is a bit kinder to us though! :o

Evening Philip,
The answer is.....YES! The club will be having a stand at the 2020 Silverstone Classic as I was talking with Mike Simpson at the Committee meeting on Saturday and we briefly discussed the subject. Keep em peeled for more details! :D

Is there a minimum standard for the cars on the stand? 😆

I don't think there's an explicit standard as such, more an overall aim to show the cars, the Club, and the marque in a good light? To get an idea, have a look at this page of the 2019 event thread here for photos of the cars that were there this year. :)

I absolutely agree and dad has said exactly the same having recently come back into Scimitars, he ran the Bristol classic car show stand for the RSSOC for many years and would always only display very good examples. I'm not sure my toadskin coupe would fit the bill!

Hi Alex,
If you've looked at last year's pictures you'll see our blue Sabre Six and I have to say that it qualifies as a well-used" example, nowhere near as clean as some (actually all) of the others on the Stand. Looks OK from a distance though!

Ah yeah but.... there ain’t too many race prepped Sabre 6’s out there, so the intrigue factor is very high! It always pulls a lot of people on to the stand as 99% of the punters don’t know what it is! :D

Silverstone Classic 31-Jul - 2-Aug 2020

Post by maestroman » Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:15 am

Hi all,

I have just received an email from silverstone about early bird tickets for the classic next year , with quite a nice discount

The email states : Each package includes TWO adult general admission tickets to the Classic and one infield vehicle display pass, providing you with the opportunity to display your car and mix with like-minded enthusiasts at the heart of the event,

The web link is https://www.silverstoneclassic.com/club ... 1575884016

But its asking for a CODE to get the discount, I can see the RSSOC is registered, but is does anyone know the code I can use to get the discount?

Thanks
Stephen

Cheers
Stephen

Interesting question. Firstly, Club discount codes are published in Slice and on the "Special Deals" page on here (accessed from the homepage, and only available to logged-in RSSOC members - which would include you, of course :) ). Nothing has appeared there as yet, as far as I can see (though I've only had time for a very quick skim through Slice).

Secondly, as far as I can see that link takes you to the "Car Club Display Package" page, which AFAIK is the same package used by the Club to book our group booking. So I presume your "infield display parking" would be added onto the number of spaces on the Club allocation for the display? I've tagged Kev and Mike as they are the people involved with previous year's/next year's bookings, so would be better equipped to give a detailed reply. It would be good to see you and your car in 2020! :D

Hi Roger,

Yes your right, that was the club display. There is 30TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION PACKAGE, which is offering the chance to display your car on an infield :

https://www.silverstoneclassic.com/30th ... 1575884016

TO get the deal you have to attend in your classic car and commit to displaying it. My friend has had this offer emailed to him from the Z club, hence the slight confusion on my behalf.

I haven`t been to the classic for a few years, but it would be good to go in the Scimitar and there is a saving when booking in advance of £42, could be a winner .

Cheers

Is the Club planning on making the bulk booking as in previous years? Will you want money up front to assist with your cash flow?
Is there anything needing doing at the moment?
Merry Christmas.

Okay everybody, you should have read about the event in Slice 291 page 12 as well as in the home page on here, you do read the home page from time to time I trust, you should do, all sorts of stuff on there on this new style Scimweb, anyway, we are making the club booking shortly, certainly before the Restoration show on 27-29th March as we are using the classic car club package that gives best value we feel, if you would like to join us please let me know as soon as possible please but no later than 15th March, on site camping is avaible at £52 per person no matter how many nights you stay, campsite is open Thursday through to Sunday closing on the Monday so time to relax and chill after what we trust will be the usual great weekend of classic and historic racing along with live music etc, see Silverstone Classic website for further details.
Cheers, Mike
