Classic Le-Mans 2016

Post by Monty » Wed Aug 19, 2015 4:36 pm

Hi All,
Now I know it is early
BUT
After finding how quickly cabins go on the ferry in 2014 I thought I would go in and check for next year.
Brittany Ferries now have the dates available for July 2016 they already seem to have no 2 berth cabins available (in fact they do not even show them).
So for those interested may be worth getting on the web and looking.
I have booked the same as 2014
Over to Le-Harve on Wednesday 6th July at 23.15 (booked with a cabin for 4 of us)
Home to Portsmouth Monday 11th July at 17.15 (no cabin needed)

See you all next year at "The Classic"

It may be the trade travel agents have mopped them up. Try Scenic & Continental Car Tours (they did the travel & hotel for us on the 2014 international) email Bob (bob.cole@sceniccartours.com) or Keiran (kieran.line@sceniccartours.com)
I know they do L-M trips.

Yes that could well be the case.
My experience with the travel agents is that we still save a shed load of cash going independent and if truth be told it is very easy to DIY(with some help from other members - Viv to name just one).
So four berth cabin booked at £80, at £20 per head its not to bad. Will we get any sleep? that remains to be seen.

Cheers

Yep I realise you are sorted but others may find the info useful. I am thinking of going provided it doesn't clash with the Laon Classic - must check. But it will be via Calais and Viv's mega camping zone!!!

I intend to go the classic Le Mans. I last went in 2006 and was a great event with cars (off and on track) more aligned to my interest, but sadly only every two years. I spoke to rich (posh twit) about this when at castle Combe and I believe he was also intends to go. I will likely take the hotel option (as I usually do, and helps keep the French economy ticking along), but would like to know what others have planned and meet up during the event (either for run down or just at the track). Perhaps we could start a roll call?

If we are going, most likely be dragging the caravan to Suze-sur-Sarthe. I think Nick went last year and did the "hotel thing"?

Hi All,
So far booked on Ferry (from our gang that went last year) for the 2016 is
Alan Harwood and Myself.
Little Bill & Richard.
Still to book
Greg & Pauline Rowntree.
Can not give every ones full name cause I don't know them sorry.
All the above will be at Suze-sur-Sarthe (I think) same as before.

I missed it in 2014 because of a last-minute breakdown ; I shall have to persuade SWMBO to give me a second chance . In any case , I don't need a ferry ticket!

We'll be Classic virgins, our first time is 2016 so any suggestions where best to watch, which days are essential etc? All tips gratefully received.

I am pretty sure I shall be up for this. Planning a Holiday in the week before in France then to Le Mans on the way back. Looks reasonable on the website cost wise. Looks like weekend Ticket, camping and paddock entry for somewhere between 130 Euro - 200 Euro depending where you camp. Am I right? Never been before but driven down through Mulsanne a few times ;) Be good to meet up for a glass of Claret. Hope to have the RX8 fixed by then but obviously will be touring Francais in the Scim. Should have long enough to check everything. Tres Bon.
Salut, Paul

We (Phil H and I plus better halfs) will be going with retro-rides this year for various reasons. They're throwing an open day for all classics at the Chateau they rent on the Friday.

Image

On Friday 8th July at Chateau Rive Sarthe we'll be throwing open the gates and inviting anyone that would like to join us for a Gathering in France. Come and enjoy the grounds, park up and enjoy the other cars, enjoy a bit of peace in the madness of Le Mans Classic. We've got food and drink available from 9:30am, stay for an hour, stay all day, it is up to you. Also a great chance for a photo op outside the Chateau.

Location :
Chateau Rive Sarthe
Route de Malicorne
72430 Noyen-sur-Sarthe

We're about 20 minutes from the circuit itself, through some lovely villages and along some pleasant roads. Come join us and the people already at the Chateau for the Retro Rides Summer holiday

Sound's brilliant!!
We're booked up now, ferry, hotelling, Classic tickets with parking in Rouge; unfortunately we won't be in the Sabre Six (SWMBO wants some luggage space, needs clothes apparently) so it'll have to be the '81 911, and my mate & his better half will be in a Stag. We'll be touring, and plan to be on the Somme for the 3rd, 100th anniversary of the loss of her great uncle, and then make our way south.
I hope your offer for Friday 8th applies to non-Reliant motors as it would be a pleasure to meet up.

Anything old(ish) and interesting seems to be the RR mantra - I think our pair might be flying the Reliant flag on their own at the moment. A 911 and a Stag will fit right in.
