Insurance cover- windscreen

Post by scimitargtc » Wed Jul 24, 2019 11:56 pm

Ok ok ok yes I know none of us would fall into this but youngest son aged 23 has just left work to find a passing vehicle has obviously spat up a stone and cracked the windscreen of his 7 month old skoda Octavia 245 vrs estate. Leaving an 8inch crack. Car bought and paid for from working long hours in a supermarket. Checked his insurance and finds not covered even though it's fully comp.its a clearly marked not covered item yet he'd have a guaranteed courtesy car in the event of an accident. Insurer? Hastings direct who renewed his policy under their essentials policy. No the damage was not his fault yes he should have asked dad about glass cover and yes he will more than likely go else where next year..unusual enough for me to put pen to paper .

Thanks for the heads up. Is it driver age related or simply Hastings avoiding costs

In fairness, Hastings do list out the differences in their policies pretty clearly - that's the reason I chose the premier cover for the sake of £60.

Who was the quote from? I can't imagine it costing much more than £500 from a good independent.
