Does anyone know anything about se5a TIL2921

It was the under engine brace I was referring too.
I didn't see any of the information you posted on facebook (maybe it was deleted or I missed it). The thing you mentioned Jim is the reason I don't really do facebook.

If I had seen your comments or realised its too early for a 5a I wouldn't have even given the car a second look.
If it had been on its original age related plate being a 5a would have been more obvious but the ageless plate hides that somewhat.
Its looking like it is a later chassis too sadly.

Ah well on with the search there has to be a bodily scruffy but solid se5 or se6 automatic apear at some point. (fingers crossed)

thanks all.

Paul

Previously owned:- 1969 se5, 1972 se5a.
Currently owned:- 1976 se6 automatic

AFAIK, the TIL registration plates were issued in year 2000 in County Fermanagh. I thought a car couldn't receive a new registration number?

For GB registered vehicles, NI registrations are classed as “not age related” as there’s no definite identifier to age (unlike GB suffix, prefix, then mid-numerical registrations)

I think Ulster plates are a loophole in the UK personal plate rules - because they don't "show" a year identifier you can fit them to any age.

Any particular reason for the possible rebody/ringer thoughts?
The SE5a wasn’t being built in 1970.

They didn't start production until.... '72? If my memory after 11 hours driving a disinterested and hopeless brick around isn't totally useless

Am I right do I get a cookie or a free car?
No cookie or free car, I'm afraid! The SE5a was in production from late 1971 (K reg).

someone on fb managed to be offended on behalf of the seller
How does that work??
I could tell ya, but I'd end up being twice as offensive to them as it's easier to show you...

Has anyone on this forum actually spoken to the owner about this car
Seems very one sided against him

TBF, I don't think the comments have been against the current owner? They've been about the car. The current owner may sadly be an innocent victim, at the end of the chain, but their guilt or innocence has no bearing on the status of the car, which needs to be viewed objectively? :)

I think someone tried but he was busy, sticking a 6b body on a gtc chassis 😆

Gonna state the blatantly obvious here.

THE SE5A WAS FITTED WITH LUCAS L891 LAMPS WHICH THE BODY WAS MOULDED FOR.
SO UNLESS SOMEONE GRAFTED A LATER BACK BODY ON THEN THE CAR COULD NOT HAVE THESE LAMP UNITS FITTED. :w

Cheers Dave

Either way it's a 5a with a 5 chassis plate. Laters was right to be wary and the Club register reflects the condition of the car. No one has suggested that the current owner has done anything wrong but he now knows that the car is not as advertised.

I think your right Dave, on closer viewing.
In any case as Jim says the body is a 5a, and post 5a bodies will not accept the larger rear lamps.
