Okay, thanks Chris for the info. I might just head for Aviemore on the off-chance the timings work out. I'll keep a look out on the HERO site too for live updates.

A real bonus if it works out, beats spending the evening in the hotel - I'll pack a Thermos though :)
Photos or it didn't happen :D

In didn't happen - further fresh snowfall put me off taking on the Slochd summit to head back south to Coylumbridge. A82 was bad enough the only gritter was broken down on the back of a low loader. :x

I've sussed out a flyover on the A9 nearby my Inverness hotel. Assuming they take the A9 round Inverness and if they flag up on the live updates when they start leaving Coylumbridge I'm tempted to go get some pics.

Proof that I was trying though :)

I like this.

Mikey's seemingly random post from a carpark in Devon (I think, but maybe Cornwall), has lead to impassioned and detailed information from Chris on the event, and Gordini5 trying to see the same thing at the opposite end of the country(s) - despite the snow.

All put in a more concise way than this (my) post.

On Sunday, as cars were driving the length of England and Scotland on the rally, cars were struggling to drive on the snow up the slight hill in front of my house, brilliant.

For the first time, I'm thinking something like LeJog could be something to have a go at, after years of Hillclimbing & racing.

Yerse Ben and Mikey. It's "hurry up and wait" again, construction stopped till the temperature elevates to zero.

If the rally had to cope with these conditions through Wales, then I take my flat hat orf to 'em!

Full write-up of this year's Le Jog here: https://heroevents.eu/events/le-jog-2017/

Instead of Christmas shopping, any members up for showing what a sorted Scim can do on Le Jog next year? You know you want to.

If anyone's thinking of Le Jog in 2018 this year take a look at the video of December's event here. This will either inspire you or send you running to the comfort of your slippers in front of the Christmas telly:

Video captures what looks like an epic rally.

I'm heartened that a one of the regularities by Loch Ness had to be cut short. The following night on the other side of the Great Glen my own 130 mile winter adventure was about to be cut short 7 miles from home when my multi-switch decided it had had enough, melted, and I lost main and dipped beam on an icy road and on a sharp bend.

It was a fault with the position of relay wiring that I should have spotted earlier but just goes to show how well prepared the cars need to be for the conditions. Thankfully my car was none the worse for wear and my underwear had a lucky escape too :)

A reminder that this year's Le Jog starts on Saturday morning at 07.30am from the grounds of the Lands End Hotel, finishing at around 10am on Tuesday 11th at John O'Groats.

As far as I know there's no Scimitar interest this year, but it's still a great event - and this year the organisers have published a list of spectator locations the length of the country, with times. It's well worth the effort to get out and experience it - and after all, don't forget the alternative is Christmas shopping.

You can read all about it here: https://heroevents.eu/event-schedule/le-jog-2018/ Just click on Le Jog 2018 - Spectator Information if it doesn't open automatically.

Is anyone marshalling or spectating this year? Let us know :)

PS: I like this thread which is why I've continued on from last year's event. Any chance a friendly mod could maybe change the title a bit?

Chris,

Have changed the title so it'll come up when searching/browsing in the future.

Never try and argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you based on experience.

Thanks for the info, Chris. A friend of mine from Goodwood is navigating in a Volvo Amazon (car 50). It'll be interesting to see how they get on - do you know if there will be live (or at least regular) updates on the website?
