Post by 747PETE » Wed Jun 11, 2014 7:47 pm

Just an idea for like minded Scimitar owners/restorers/rescuers, classic cars and flying machines seem to go together..........so I thought, why not an Aviation thread :-).Anything aircraft related,so to kick off:
From my favourites folder,a lot of aircraft in there!!!!

Funnily enough I was at RAF Cosford at the weekend for their great airshow.
The Typhoon was awesome, the Red Arrows always a hit but me favourite was this...

There is something immensely satisfying about being at cloudbase and having the right of way over all powered aircraft on something that packs into a rucksack!

My favourite video is this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txJ8JR5r44g Worked on Varsity's and Victor tankers in my time and a Lightning simulator but the best air display I ever saw was a Shackleton the day after a air show - put his own show on as he left the station - I did not think it could fly like that.

This is one that I used to play in. Taken at Dinard airport whilst waiting for fuel. That day I was back later than official sunset and landed on a closed runway. ( It was more into wind than the authorised runway and nobody bothered to inform me I was only allowed to use 27!)

747 landing gear and flap systems, though old now are a wonder to behold, great engineering. This guy had his wrists severely slapped for setting this up (not that difficult to set up but instant dismissal for us) ,never the less quite a little film.
