For Sale - 1983 GTC Auto with LPG Conversion (Previously Owed by Bill Sims)

Post by jasonbutterfield » Tue Sep 10, 2019 5:43 pm

This car was owned by my late father in law Peter Misy, having owned more than a few Scimitars over the years, he was quite the enthusiast. It was purchased from Bill Sims in November 2014, who had made many modifications and improvements during his time of ownership, including the LPG conversion, all very documented in a folder.

We have now made the difficult decision to sell it due to us having too many other commitments, with work, a young family and current building projects at home, we simply do not have the time to drive it regularly and the skills to ensure regular maintenance and tweaks required for a classic car.

Given that it’s nearly 36 years old, the condition of the bodywork and interior is very good, everything works, even the passenger fasten seatbelt light.

It’s been serviced and maintained by our family mechanic since my father in law purchased it in 2014. The MOT expires in May 2020 and it’s currently done 73,458 miles, there’s a box full of old receipts and history.

Included in the sale is the windbreak and bespoke tonue cover and private plate, A381 GTC as it was build number 381.

There’s 5 previous owners on the log book, the current owner being my wife, it had to be transferred into her name for insurance purposes.

If you require more information or have any questions, please give me a call or send me an email.

OIRO - £14,000

Thank you for taking the time to read, Jason.

Whilst this immaculate car is in the public eye, as it were, can anyone tell me how it came by its registration? I recall mention of this in Slice a while ago, and its pertinence is well known. But it's not a plate to which a personal plates dealer would attach special significance, and I doubt that by astonishing coincidence DVLA issued it originally. So did a PO just happen across it by chance on some other car? And how did he then secure it? Anyone know?

contact the DVLA if the number is not in existence they will "make" it up for you, they will then put it in one of their auctions with a start price of around £395. been a while since I have done it but it was very simple to do.

Lots of GTCs with GTC numbers (and a few GTE with GTE plates too). I imagine prices rocketed when Bentley used the initials? Isn’t there a new Ferrari GTC4 too?

AIUI it's not the "GTC" that's so much significant as the number 381. Are there others bearing the build number of the car on the plate? This is the only one I can recall having heard about.

Dave Peek's GTC is another that immediately comes to mind :)

And I might find one or two more if I search the register...

Nearer a dozen IIRC - this is possibly the only one with the build number too?
