I think at the moment until we know what's happening with the club. IE are they buying them all or not, maybe this thread should be split up. It's still in the parts remanufacture requests section. Maybe a thread by a club representative in the for sale section with people listing interests only to keep it tidy?

Hi All,

Update from Victor.

50 sets have been ordered, should be finished in 4 to 6 weeks, these initial 50 sets are already pre sold to the club.

Victor is pleased to deal with me direct. He can supply me with as many seals as I require. The price will be the same as listed on Scimweb. Victor's policy for marketing these seals (after the initial batch has been sold) is for payment up front, and the seals will then be ordered and manufactured.

Happy to continue adding names to the list of those wishing to purchase seals, which can then either be used by the Club, or used for the second manufacturing run.

Regards,
Shaun

Morning All

I can confirm an order for 50 pairs of the quaterlight seals has been placed by the Club with Victor. It is anticipated that they will be available early next year as the tooling for the moulding has been finalised and the actual moulding has still to be carried out. The final costs are being worked out with the shipping, any import duty and tax to be taken into account.

As soon as any more information I will let everyone know. I will be keeping a spreadsheet of those who have expressed interest.

If you have any questions, please contact me.

Regards

Kevin

Firstly, Guys, greetings from New Zealand!

I read with great interest the effort that has been put into the re-manufacture of the QTR Light seals. I too investigated this path in the early 90's, with a view to producing moulds and performing a run, however interest was low and the mould costs were around NZD$10k. I did compare the seals with Mk2 Zephyr/consol ones, and they are dimensionally the same size, however a different moulding lip incorporated.

There would be considerable interest from NZ members, as the 5/5a are the most common models, so our RSSOCNZ club would be prepared to place an order direct with Victor, once we notify members and possibly hold some for our club stock.

I gather the first 50 sets are sold now, so we would be interested to place an order for the next production run. Cheers Damon

Good news; the first production seal has now been moulded from the new tooling and trial fitted into a frame.

I am most pleased to report that the fit is excellent and even better than the original. It will be all steam ahead now to manufacture these in quantity and make available.

This has been a hard road traveled indeed.

This is great news ! I'm waiting for these to complete the restoration of my SE4 - I won't put the doors back together until they arrive as it'd be waste of time. Hopefully these will arrive in time to finally get the car ready for summer.
