I guess it's the same setup as the 1.4 sst? If so we would be interested. I would also like a stainless multi pipe if anyone has one? as its the only pipe that's not been replaced on our sst and QRG no longer have them!

Have you tried GW for the branch pipe?

The SST will be the same "late" setup. Not got a timescale on having these produced yet.

I did ask and none on the shelf but they were buying them from QRG so probably not getting any more any time soon!

No rush as they are ok at the moment but not pretty some are factory fitted!

You may have missed one (or more than one?) - the pipe from the thermostat housing to the heater matrix. Based on both my car, and that of Tony Penfold (his is slightly later than mine) we both have underbonnet water valves for the heater. However I think our pipe runs are (from memory) slightly different. Mine looks like this (which is how it's always been, in my ownership, I simply replicated the existing setup):

Just to throw a bit more information ( confusion?? ) in to the mix.

I have just been looking for ( and found ) a water leak on my 1400. One of the 15mm heater hoses is dripping where it connects to the stat housing. This is the only hose I've not replaced over the last few months ( mainly because I didn't order enough hose last time!! )

Looking at Roger's photo I suspect there may be different stat housings out there. Roger's connection looks as if it sticks out at 90 degrees to the engine axis. The stat outlet on mine points backwards towards the passenger seat. ( I've just ordered up a 180 hose bend to fit )

Not come across a housing in that arrangement and certainly not seen another on a Scimitar, so would suggest it may be a case that yours had had something else fitted from the ford range.

Rogers stat housing is as per normal.

Hmmm, interesting, Keith. Where's your rad fan switch? Mine is in the "points backwards" position, so presumably yours must be elsewhere?

Can't remember!! I'll have a look in the morning.

The switch failed a few years ago, rather than try to extract it from the stat housing ( terrible access and almost certainly seized in ) I fitted a new one into the radiator inlet pipe.
I replaced the steel pipe that runs under the battery tray with an alloy pipe with a 22mm stub.
It will probably never fail again, but if it does Its easily accessible now.

not been out to look at my car, but a quick trawl of photos on E bay found this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FIESTA-M ... SwvgdW5w~j

which, from memory, looks like mine. certainly has the small bore heater outlet pointing backwards.

As far as I know my car still has the original engine, could be a PO addition of course, or perhaps just what Reliant had available that week ( or whatever Ford sent them perhaps? ).

Doubt it is original. They had a specific moulded pipe for the location, so an alternative thermostat housing would have caused headaches at the factory.

Hows the silicon hose order coming along? I know these things will take time. I am getting my car back on the road (four years since it was last on) and will need to replace some of the hoses as they cant wait till the silicon ones get made. Are the original hoses still available to buy?

Guy, which hoses are you in urgent need of?

I've got 4 early sets of silicone in production, but need to get on with the later version, I've noe got the main hoses as patterns and will get these sent off to the manufacturer next week.

Basically I need all of them as I think they are all originals. I will look to see which are the worst though

I'm going to need someone to get the tailors tape out and measure up for all the "heater" hose lengths if we want these later sets done. I've got the moulded pipes with the manufacturer to be copied, but it ain't a full set with these alone.

In the mean time I have just a few sets of the early hoses soon to be available in classic black silicone. Final price TBC. Will consider splitting up / supplying individually if necessary.

Bump on this again, the tooling has been made for the main 2 pipes on the later CVH setup, so not far off production.

PLEASE can someone provide measurement for the other hoses otherwise I can't go any further with this. Trace it out with some string and mark up, then measure the lengths.

Pipes in question are those from the multi branch pipe to:
Heater
Header tank
Inlet manifold

I have sets of the early hoses now in hand so contact me if you are interested. They are finished in "Silicone classic black" which looks more in keeping under the bonnet and I can at present offer them at a good price.

On my road car I shall be swapping out my (not so old) but degrading Kevlar rubber hoses soon as they have proven a real weak point over the years, will be nice to finally have the future proofing of silicone hoses there.
