Do you have a set available and would you be going to the NEC?

Yes and no, but presumably John Unwin is going (it's normally his bday treat) so I could pass a pair on to him to bring up?

Would you be happy for me to pay him cash at the NEC?

Of course.

But can he be trusted not to spend it on shiny things at the NEC?

On page 3 of this thread Viv mentions that he got me a set for the racer (10" 250lb 1.9" dia for protech alloy shocks) to go with the 300lb fronts from Phil.

Jim, not a problem, I'll email John now to check when he's going and pop them over later.

Rear spring wise, there is quite a bit of discussion about the place, but 250lbs is a fairly safe bet.

I think a lot depends on your intended use - a track car may be a rather different kettle of fish to a road car.

[edit - I use 9" 225 pound rears, that in a car which is my daily driver and in which I expect to be able to cover a few hundred miles a day in, when required]

I found 260 pound, 10 1/2 inch, internal diameter 2.25 inch on adjustable seat AVO',s to be just fine in combination with Phil'sl 250 pounds fronts.

Delighted to announce NEW UPRATED SS1/Sabre front springs are back in stock :D

"Road Spec"
250lbs/in rating
11" free length
Approx std. to -10mm ride height dependinging upon application
POWDERCOATED gloss black extremely durable finish.

Image
(as above but entirely void of my dodgy paint labelling this time!)

Slight rise in manufacturing price over last order back in 2012, but will hold the previous sale price to Club members for now-

£90 a pair to RSSOC members
£100 a pair to non members.

Delivery by Scimaritans possible, or £6.95 by courier.

To anyone not wishing to wade through the last 4 pages, these are the twice revised spec, thoroughly tested, highly recommended springs fitted to a whole host of daily / weekend / track and fast road cars out there.
They are slightly stiffer rating at 250lbs/in VS the original 180's and will sharpen up the car's handling without detracting from road manners and driveability. In some cases the ride comfort may well be improved if the old springs have properly had it!
Being stiffer / thicker diameter coil, allows them to be made slightly shorter - aiding in fitment as they will just about squeeze in between the open lower wishbone and chassis rather than requiring prior compression. If all goes well, it's 1/2hr per side to fit.

Treat your SS1 this summer and enjoy the reward?

Sales pitch over
