Consider though that the chassis were pressed and welded in Germany, so it makes sense that they would all be standardised with the captives.

They may perhaps be a few very early cars that don't, just a handfull, but i've never come across one.
I thought someone on here had said their car didn't have them? could have been a very early car I suppose? until Phil checks No1 we won't know if they were all fitted :D

none of the press cars had rollbars fitted - if it was standard, I'm sure the crash test cars would have had rollbars fitted?

I've just been poking around with bradawl to no avail. Then I realised my car is an early one rechassised on to a new galvanised chassis. Hopefully the captive nuts are there but there are no holes through the body tub. As suggested, some careful exploratory drilling is called for. My starting point will be a card template made up to the dimensions that Jim gave in his guide.

No bars on the crash test car (in the test phots anyway), and no captive nuts on chassis numbers 83 and 121 for sure...

No captive nuts on my 1985 (pre-galv) car either - can't remember chassis number. See my Project Progress page for more details & pics of my rollbar :)

bugger - just got back from Pete Silcocks place, I could have dropped one off :?

As Phil says, we (eventually) got the latest batch delivered an hour after I left for Curborough

no-one wanted to save on the postage, so I still have 5 bars here.

email spares@rssoc.co.uk or PM me if you would like one.

Final costs were:

members - £179.99

non-members - £199.99

UK postage and packing was £20

As we sold the last SS1/SST/Sabre rollbar at the NEC last year - I should be taking delivery of 10 more in the next week or so.

All details (including prices) remain the same - PM or email me to order.

As it happens, I've just been removing a factory-fitted roll bar from my brother's early SS1 non-galv, number 160 IIRC. It DIDN'T have captive nuts.

If anyone wants to save on postage by collecting at Curbs please let me know as soon as possible because I don't have room to take any just on the off-chance.

Already have a roll bar but could do with a set of bolts, washers and spacers if there are any left separately. How much would that be to collect from Curbs?
