Hi phil as i purchased mikes SST can you put me down as a possible This is only not a firm order as 1 Been going on for 7 years up to now and who knows how much longer and 2 no idea of the price but i want a spare.

There's an original manifold and elbow on ebay now, paul maddison is seller along with few other Ti bits

Who's currently attached to this project..? As a manufacturing engineering student I'm happy to lend some time (especially after my exams finish in early May) if it might help get the wheels turning! I've also got a little experience with exhaust manifold design, though admittedly tubular welded rather than cast...

I still have the best intentions to get this sorted... at some point. As time goes by it will become an ever increasing issue, but so far I've not heard of anyone stranded with a car that cannot go back together. A manifold has to be pretty far gone to be beyond salvaging, although I realise it would be preferable for most to spend the money and fit a new replacement that has not been subject to repair.

The route that Chris Eades took is not without it's own issues, and really, I do not think it is viable to have those produced on mass as the supporting modifications required mean that it will not be an appropriate option for many who want a direct fit. To my understanding the patterns are held with the foundry, and they can cast them to order. But it then comes to the machining issues that caused previous headaches. These are issues that were created by some oversight in the patterns produced, not allowing for enough clearance around the fittings, and some difference in the turbo mounting location.

If anyone wishes to further investigate persuing Chris's uprated manifold, I'm happy to hand on what I have and I suspect he can assist also.

My view is that the original manifold needs to be reverse engineered. Not altered or modified in any way. Just re-produced in exact standard format and cast in a suitable / higher grade material. Admittedly though I have not made any further inquiries into having this done with a casting company, although there are now plenty on my doorstep what with being in Sheffield! That said, you can't help but look to the far east and the £60-100 manifolds they are producing and thinking "what-if?"

An alternative idea would be having just the port flange section cast, as a singular piece, incorporating the flange and leading abruptly out to two slightly splayed round stubs. Two of these coupled with an off the shelf T2/T25 collector flange, would then allow for bespoke fabrication of a thick wall tubular manifold using "weld elbows" which is a common and straightforward means of fabricating manifolds. Possibility for batch production, slight adaptions for different spec turbos, and actually a very durable end product. However, this brings together the cost of casting and the cost of fabrication time. Although the former is less involved, and the latter is simplified with repeat-ability.

I would also point out that any new manifolds that go into circulation potentially free up a number of secondhand standard units that may be suitable for re-use.
