Tahoma? looks like Verdana, not bad but still too rigid.
How about Mistral?

I was always told that Verdana was a good font to use because even at smaller point sizes it remains clear ;-)

Today I have mixed news.
I have given up trying to sort out GoDaddy.
And GoDaddy have given up hosting my website.
I hope to achieve a seamless transfer, but if it doesn't work as planned, you know why ...

As soon as things are running smoothly I'll let you know.

Ok, I have signed up with HostPapa, which was top choice in french reviews and is presented entirely in real french, unlike GoDaddy's translucinations.
They offer unlimited all sorts of things and are also one of the least expensive.
When I had paid up I discovered they have an office in London and are actually american
But they promise an automatic transfer of the site, all I had to do was ring GoDaddy to get a release code.
I have now officially signed off from the old host and should be up and running again in five days.
We shall see.

Checking each day, the site is still there ;)
Since GoDaddy were closing down their server on 30 april, HostPapa would seem to have effected a seamless transfer.
This smacks of the miraculous so I am still waiting for the crash.
Meantime I have uploaded some stuff to try out the system - this is new ...

I have loads more waiting.

One week on, GoDaddy have finally noticed I shouldn't be there and cut me off.
Here's hoping HostPapa will get their act together quickly.

Oh dear, HostPapa were incredibly efficient and got the site on line in spite of my incompetence ...
but I still have a problem which is not their fault (or mine), when I try to upload the site content I get an error message 'insufficient memory'.
This is ridiculous because the site is about 2Gb and I have 132Gb memory available on the computer.
I have a rendezvous at the Apple Store Genius Bar on thursday, they'll sort it in about 35 seconds.
See you soon :)

This is going to go on for ever.
The Apple genius said apologetically 'yes, I'm afraid the latest Mac OS (El Capitan) is not compatible with iWeb'.
He suggested I run the site from my old Mac, which has one of the older operating systems, Snow Leopard I think.
This is not a long term option but I noted how to find the site in my (newer) computer to copy via a memory stick.
Back home I dragged the <domain> dossier into the memory stick and waited ... 26 hours for it to assimilate 3Gb.
Nope, I thought, this is not going to work.
And I was right, at the end, with 3Mb remaining, I got an error message
'Finder cannot finish the operation because certain data of <domain> cannot be read or written. Error code -36.'
If I click on the memory stick I get the domain access page with all the correct details but no password.
And it won't let me add the password.

I thought I would try again to load the site onto the memory stick, but now Application Support cannot find iWeb

Option 2 proposed by the Apple genius was to copy the site into a dossier and upload that, fairly classic BUT
halfway through the copy I got an error message 'insufficient memory'.
Sounds familiar.

Option 3 thought of by me (I am also a genius) is to change my operating system back to Yosemite which should be compatible.
Always assuming you can unupgrade a Mac.

Any thoughts?

Incidentally all the other strange things that have been happening to the site recently are down to El Capitan.
Among other idiosyncrasies the OS particularly likes the Times Roman typeface and if you don't use it it will either change it for you or just erase it ;)
It may also take exception to your layout, colour, aftershave ...
I owe an apology to GoDaddy because I blamed them.

Option 4 change the site compiler from iWeb to something more viable - any suggestions?
According to reviews the top three are Weebly (oh come on, I can't use a programme called Weebly), Homestead and Squarespace.
But this would presumably mean starting from scratch, and 3Gb has taken some time to create ...

New Mac in hospital for lobotomy.
Luckily old Mac still works a treat.

The security (and hidden knowledge) of a Mac is incredible ... but first things first.
I got my friendly local computer store to remove El Capitan and install Yosemite.
Not easy because Yosemite is no longer available from Apple.

I collect the computer and settle down in my armchair to restore all the files from Time Machine.
Only when I click on Time Machine, nothing happens.
So I plug in the external disc drive - and it immediately starts doing a new backup

It didn't take long to record 0 files and after clicking around I got the whole historic of backups on screen.
But I couldn't do anything with the files.

Back to Help Informatique, Fred is puzzled and accuses me of cocking up the restauration.
Tries it himself and, er, same non-result.
He gets a bit further than me and finds all the files I am trying to restore.
But we are still denied access.
Then he realises that because he has given the new OS a new identity, Time Machine doesn't recognise us.
So he tries to register a new (old) administrator identity.
Which was fine except it wanted us to use my iCloud password - and it didn't work.

Here it was I who had a brainwave, the old OS didn't have a password, try registering the new (old) identity with no password.
It worked, we got into all the files ... but still didn't get the choice of restoring them.
Fred started copying them all to the bureau (I think it's 'desktop' in american) and we went to the pub for a think.

After a few thoughts we came back, the copy was done - and the screen had changed to offer the option "RESTORE" 8)
So that's what it's doing now, 80 000 files and I'll probably have them all in duplicate.
Suite et fin (?) demain.
Er that's continuation and conclusion tomorrow, much easier to say in french.

Today's installment of the saga.
Having reorganised all the files I think I am only missing missing some photos - and iWeb :bh
So I have the content of my website, I have the domain hosting, but I cannot put the two together.
Of course iWeb is no longer available from Apple ...
I think another visit to the Genius Bar may be in order.
I don't understand how Time Machine can lose a basic application like iWeb, I had it on the old OS (even if it didn't work).
I wonder if I can transfer it from my old Mac, if I haven't erased it?
I am getting ever so slightly irritated.
