English Rencart Nemours - monthly meetings

Post by DARK STAR » Thu Jan 23, 2014 6:44 pm

English Rencart Nemours (Seine-et-Marne) - another 2013 meeting with a Scimitar representative, but member Fred Rambert still hasn't found a car so went in his Caterham ...
I don't think the enormous pink station wagon is very english though :-)

Thanks Chris for reminding me that I need to work hard on getting me a Scimi :D
It's going slowly ... but surely 8)
So for the time being, I am swapping between TVR and Caterham

Actually I received Slice #255 in the box today ... I was happy to see that Scimitars and Sevens (Lotus, Cats, Robin Hood, etc.)
seem to get along pretty well, phew ... at least they won't snap at each other in the basement
Looking forward to reading your article on South California :hurrah:

Not exactly ... too wide by european standard
Still it belongs to one of our club members who also owns the white MGA below:

Cheers :)

Presumably he uses the back of the station wagon to transport the MGA?

As a matter of fact it's huuuge ... and the front is quite impressive too

You sure can sleep in it easily ... you don't even need to bother going in the back, just sleep on the front seat
It's just one large and flat couch  Wish I could do the same in the Caterham, ouch ... bloody tunnel

Today was our annual meeting (Assemblee Generale) at English Rencart ... with about 60 members gathered at the Relai du Miel,
a famous local restaurant with a small museum dedicated to the french mythic 'Nationale 7' (N7)
Many a member preferred to drive one's own 'modern' car ... due to a rather wet Sunday
A few of us though braved the elements with their good old girls, which you'll find below
My Cat' falling in both categories 'modern' and 'classic' ... it does appear below although she's the youngster in the group

Sorry for the size of the photos, those are just thumbnails saved as some new image ... so that they would fit on one pic
If you wish to see some of them in more details ... just give my the pic # that's below it and I will post a bigger version.
NB. the XK140 with the funny colors has already been posted and commented in here:

Cheers,
Fred

Hello,

Last Sunday was our February noggin in Nemours, with almost 30 cars - that's if we include a couple of
french and japanese cars that belong to club members :? -
There was a fair number of red cars - 12  - on this particular day ... amongst which John's valiant Austin Seven Nippy '36 8)

The red Sunbeam Alpine 3 caught my eye ... and I decided to dedicate a 'zoom' on it which will be on our website
within a few days - in addition to the other pics -

Cheers !
Fred

Wow, well done Fred, saving me work and doing a better job of it!
Now all you need is to get a Scimitar in the photos ... :D

Thanks Chris ... I'll try to feed this thread with similar thumbnails, whenever we have meetings at the club.
I can't put all of them of course, that would mean too many pics ... so I'll just post 1 pic of each car.

People are welcome to come and visit our website if they want to see the other pics (there are usually
over a hundred per meeting, sometimes more when I make a 'Gros Plan' on one specific car !) ... but
the update on the website is often a couple of weeks behind - a friend is taking care of the website,
I just shoot some pics and give him the materaial  - ... so actually RSSOC members will have the
prime viewing of those cars 8)
DARK STAR wrote:Now all you need is to get a Scimitar in the photos ... :D
Oh, tell me about it :P I am waiting a message from the other Chris to confirm a second visit at his place,
and it sounds like we'll strike a deal then  By the time the car goes through Controle Technique,
french registration, etc. I guess that she'll join the family sometime next month
There will be plenty of new pics coming up then in my introduction thread !

Have a nice evening !
Cheers,
Fred

Here are the cars that joined our montlhy noggin this morning, under a bright sunnay day 8)
Still no Scimitar in the lot as there was an unexpected delay in my getting the GTE  but I will be patient

Beside the usual attendees (Triumphs, Jags & MGs to name a few), this lovely springtime week-end brought along
a few new cars: a Land Rover, a Merlin, another Seven and a Capri :) ( will post a larger pic of this one on the thread
'What cars did you see today? (Non-Scimitar)' )

Cheers, Fred

Great stuff!

No Daimler this time, that's my favourite.
The Jaguar Mk2 isn't a bad substitute ...
My Daimler was the same colour - as the Jaguar.
My Jaguar Mk2 was rust colour (apart from the holes)

G'day Chris,
Here are a couple of larger pics of the Daimler (those are from last month)
Now that I think of it, I have not done any 'close up' session on this particular car ...
will try to remember about it for the next time

Yesterday was organized our first yearly session of 'expertise' at the Club ...
14 vehicles were being evaluated by an expert who will send us the reports and estimates in a few weeks
A good day of work for all those involved, but the pleasure to have plenty of time watching at those cars in close up 8)

Two more sessions coming up in a few weeks time

Cheers,
Fred

They all look very smart.
I rather like the Triumph Renown, a very rare car.
And of course the Barker Daimler ...
