Replacement carpets
Does anyone have experience of the carpet kits from Car Hoods or Coverdale as I will be ordering a set very soon once I have checked the colour samples of Autumn Leaf and Ochre with chocolate/tan coloured interior.
Has anyone experience of any other suppliers?
Finally, do the club have any deals negotiated with either supplier?
Thanks in advance!

You will get far lower cost with little extra work by buying off the roll. Commercial carpet sets are all wrongly cut, but anyone who complains is told that nobody else has ever had a problem. Make of that what you will.

As Andy said, the kits aren't a great fit and suppliers go all ostrich when it's mentioned to them, probably less work to buy a kit then modify but as I found it's the bound edge bits that needed work then rebinding so I figured buy off the roll and DIY getting edges bound as required and save a fair bit of money so long as you have carpet to creat patterns from in the first place.
SE4c rebuilding. SE5a similar it seems!

About 2 years ago I bought the complete set from Coverdale. No complaints. Two weeks delivery. The price was reasonable.
Hope this helps.

KJF what car are you doing up??.
The kits from coverdale for the SE6 and GTC are too complex and they even supplied sections for the fabric arm rests, go figure.
When I was full time with Reliants I tried to get a deal together for Scimitar owners but nothing came of it, then coverdale had a fire and lost the templates so I tried to get them to start from scratch with the Scimitars but the last Two sets I got from them were very fiddley to get to fit.
Is Gary Taylor from Manchester still out there?, he made a brilliant job on a few cars for me.

my Coverdale ones were shocking, some additional bits that I still have no idea where they go, and most needed a lot of trimming, pretty dissapointing, its not the cost of the carpet, its the time and the effort in trying to get them in, then to stand back and think, well its OK but not perfect.................

Coverdale seem to think a 5 and a 5a have the same carpets which isn’t the case..and even then they aren’t a marvellous fit. That’s assuming you can figure out what to use where (and which bits you can modify).

I suppose it depends if you have some old carpet to use as templates.....My car has no carpet in any of the foot wells, having long since rotted away.

So disappointed with my set. Just such a poor fit. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. In hindsight I wish I got our local trimmer to make them.1969SE5 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 10:31 ammy Coverdale ones were shocking, some additional bits that I still have no idea where they go, and most needed a lot of trimming, pretty dissapointing, its not the cost of the carpet, its the time and the effort in trying to get them in, then to stand back and think, well its OK but not perfect.................

It does seem that the SE6 set (which they laughingly think is the same as a GTC) is worse than the 5 series. I managed to make a set fit my SE5 but it was particularly annoying having to cut bound edges. Their customer support is just non-existent.

I can't speak for anything other than Se6a obviously, but it's worth noting that the original carpets didn't have bound edges, so if you end up making your own, without them, that's actually a more authentic option

Guys thanks for all your replies. I’ve decided to buy off the roll and cut myself getting any edges bound as required.

Hi, did mine a few months back and spent out on better quality carpet and underlay so that I didn't need to bind the edges and the carpet could be moulded into shape by stretching and pressing. Just take your time.....I found that heavy weights left overnight on an uncut footwell piece helped in getting the shape prior to cutting.
Don't use the originals as templates, more as a guide, as they distort as you pull them out if stuck down with glue or age!
You can also think about changing the footwell ply pieces at the same time as they are naff.
Good luck....it is rewarding knowing you've done it.

Hello everyone
I do not need to change the mats of my Se5a so I can not say.
But a few years ago I bought at Coverdale a Carpet Set and Self Adhesive Underfelt for my Wolseley 1100
It was good quality and I had no particular problem
