Engine rebuild

Post by Bob Bradbury » Fri Mar 01, 2019 4:20 pm

Does anyone have experience they can share of Essex 3.0 rebuilds? Mine has a blown piston. I'm looking for a fairly standard rebuild or replacement engine. I live in Worcestershire, but travel frequently to Lancashire.

I Googled Essex Engines and spoke to Robert Street who seemed knowledgeable. Are there any other Essex specialists out there?

EssexEngines is a trading name of Car Clinic. They're in Darwen in Lancs. I suspect you didn't speak to Robert Street - that's their address! :) They are knowledgeable and have a good reputation. Ric Wood in Stockport is also highly regarded and does a lot of race engine work (particularly in things like Capris). John Wade has a lot of experience with Scimitars.

And welcome to the forum, Bob! :D

Ditto to everything Roger said - and there's a new establishment , vis: Paul Turnbull at GT Evolution.

Also you need to know what you need and what you get for the price

If you add the sum of all new parts you are easily into 4 figures
Anyone offering an Essex for less has cut corners
